Type R and VTEC owners

Rilot values are strong for sure! how many miles on yours?

Wow, that is a very good price imo, and sold very quickly! where did you list it?

As much as i love my S2000, its just a car, and i have always been of the opinion that if anyone offered me a price i would be happy with then i would sell it without hesitation, which at this point with all the stuff i have done to it would be around £14.5k. It would be a sad day, but i dont think i would be like the many others and buy another a few years later

Most people go to 'better' cars then go back as they don't live up to expectations.

Even those with GT4s, and Astons have later picked up S2000s as additional cars.

Make sense really. The S2000 will be more reliable, probably less faff to get in and drive because it won't be in a garage or under a car cover, less annoying if an old dear drives in to the back of you, and you get to keep the miles off your favoured Porsche/Aston:p

Can't say I miss mine (yet! Only been gone two weeks)

I don't miss mine gone two years, m3 was much better. Boxster is even better than that.

Not really sure what an s2000 would offer over an Aston or a Porsche.

At best, it's comparable to a Boxster, but you'd choose one or the other.

I agree. The S2000 is a great car for what it is but it's not the be-all and end-all of driving pleasure. There are few cars that sound quite as epic as an S2000 with an FIPK on full-throttle in VTEC but let's not mince words. It's not a particularly fast car by modern standards (most hot hatches are faster). The steering is a little devoid of feedback compared to the best hydraulic systems, and it's not an easy car to drive fast in anything other than perfect conditions.

Dunno. Just going by what people have done. I guess it depends on what you want from a car. I think the modern cars don't give the pure feeling some crave, yet others see as unrefined.

I'm driving a standard one and agree with the steering bit. My modified was much better. If you get them into a place to be able to drive fast (driving or tweaking) they will leave any hot hatch behind.

With the Aston. People have bought them in addition. Maybe just as a beater they can tag the crap out of and not worry about breaking

If the Astons in question are the V8 Vantage then I know of several people who have bought those only to move them on a few months later. They all said the same thing; that the drive doesn't measure up to the looks.
The S2000 has huge appeal and it was with a heavy heart that I let mine go but I can completely understand why a lot of people dot 'get' them.

The v8 Vantage is a car you need to 'get'- it's not the quickest or sharpest handling compared to the competition, but it looks/sounds fantastic, has a great interior and practical form factor for its class. Throwing one around in anger is great fun with the v8 growl, LSD and the pointy front end. As an all-round feel good car, it's hard to beat.

If you've got both in your garage, you're sure as hell not going to take the s2000 out for a drive.

If you want quick, buy a GTR. If you want top-notch handling, buy a Cayman.

I went to an E46 M3 and while it was an amazing car I missed the feel and rawness of the S2000 so I went back. The only issue I ever had with the S2 was the power but that's sorted now :D

If I go down the R35 route I imagine I'd feel similar eventually, plus its huge..

A few mates have or have had GTR's, very mixed reviews. Those who have had Evo's have told me not to bother as Evo's are meant to be more fun and the GTR running costs are insane.

GTR running costs ARE insane. The interior isn't amazing quality either for the price of the car.

I think people buy them planning to use them every day, thinking "it's just a Nissan, surely it can't cost much more than a 370z to run".

After a good 8-9 months of abuse and neglect (not cleaned!) as a result of moving house and spending most of my time riding a motorbike, and consideration for chopping it in/selling it I spent 5 hours on it today. Had to have the rear light clusters out to sort out some mould, exhaust tips off for a proper clean (Forgot they used to be polished stainless!), cleaned, clayed, waxed.

Even did the soft top elastic DIY repair job which I have had the materials sitting around the garage for 18 months :o

Can actually see it's true colour showing now, instead of a blackened, muddy, dusty mess! Now would be the best time to sell up for sure, but I'm going to keep it I think.

I've took a deposit on my BMW so looking to get an EP3 literally now.

Just finding something actually worth the money for £3500 quid or less is looking like it's gonna be tricky :D

Plenty of nice examples out there mate. I literally sold mine last night and let it go cheap aswell as I've got three FN2's at the moment so needed the space haha :D

Reading this topic only assured me that my DC2 is staying till it dies with me.
Drove few newer cars and they just lack that Raw Brutal feeling hard to explain.

The other weekend i spent OVER 4 HOURS Drilling my snapped wheel nut off !!!! **** ME worst job I done on a car. Expected 1 hour job max. Ended up basically drilling it all around and scraping it out bit by bit from the rim at my mates garage.

But now was well worth it I got Michelin Pilot Sports on the car. And from all tyres i tried so far those are feel best. And less wheel spin so they should last longer than 3000 miles :D
