Types of music that you hate

it is funny how most of you dislike rap whereas youve probably only heard 1% and that 1% youve heard is probably all the xxxx stuff...to put it eloquently

I dislike most current rap, but still love old stuff from the 90s, old Snoop, Dre, Warren G, that stuff is still cool.

Realistically, a lot of the music I was 'into' over the years were more as a result of social aspects than actual choice.

It wasn't until I started clubbing that I found music that I really loved.

In fact, I've seen my social circles shift over the years as my old friends tastes change and I don't change mine to keep in as I did when I was a kid.

slipknot? nu-metal? complete horlicks.

aside from the fact that their first album had incubus-style funk guitars, the second (self-titled) album was death-metal-by-the-numbers-with-bleepy-bits.
Slipknot are not death metal. I still argue they are not nu-metal either, but the first album is certainly NOT death metal by the book. Not in the slightest...

...peccatum..?
...and nor are Peccatum black metal.

Please.

Rap
Drum n Bass
RnB
Happy hardcore

As Penski says there are no bad genres, just bad artists... it's just that those genres seem to be full of really bad artists :p

Slipknot are nowhere near Death Metal, not in the slightest.

This thread has shown an interesting thing though, that a lot of people think they know what death metal is when that's not the case. No-one has mentioned a death metal band so far.
I said I like Necrophagist and they are 100% Death Metal. ;)

Most UK Garage/Rap grinds my gears, basically anything on channelU (Sky Ch.360)

As for Sepultura; Death metal & Thrash metal (early), Groove metal (mid-career & recently) and Nu-metal (mid-career, some influences remain). Band changed its sound when Max left.

Gangsta Rap (anything on the god awful channel U thing on sky)
Any song where the singer(s) seem to think they look cool grabbing their balls or doing funny hand symbols every 5 seconds.

And most of all Drum n Bass

I also dislike a lot of metal despite liking a lot of metal.

Pity they're only good if you prefer ridiculous musicianship and technicality over simple decent songwriting... which is moronic.
Bit OTT sometimes with the guitar but still fairly decent I think, Muhammed is a god. :p

I hate all this music that all the little chavs seem to be listening to. They get the most cheesied up dance track you've ever heard, increase the pitch 100%, add an acapella to it(not even in sync) and listen to them up the back of public transport.

Anything RnB/off beats - I dont know why but any form of music that doesnt use a steady rhythm and consists of purely offbeats and female vocals leaves me feeling nauseous and sick.

Anything shouty metal - Good guitars, tight drums, and oh what's that ruining the song? Some dude roaring down a microphone.

Last year i would also have said Rap, but a friend of mine has recently shown me its not Rap i hate, but mainstream pop Rap eg 50 Cent and all that garbage.

"Indie" cant stand the stuff.

Like...

Razorlight
The ****

I did asterisks because there's so many boring strummy guitar bands that start with "the"

I dislike most forms of British band music. The likes of Oasis, Blur, Stoneroses, Beatles.... I REALLY hate any RnB or Garage.

I do however really enjoy several forms of American rock music. Starting off from my teen years of the "grunge" bands (Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine etc..). Lately I really enjoy more "epic" type bands such as Within Temptation and Evanesence, very powerful and a lot of emotion.

I do admit I like a lot of the Linkin Park stuff and I have enjoyed the odd bit of Eminem.
