Tyre Nichols murder

I said EXACT same interactions. So yes.

Just to remove any bias beyond what I am proposing, in the other scenario.

Like if an 18year old bloode cheerleader ran away in her handcuffs, then they tazed her, would they then catch up then kick her in the head and beat her for several minutes?

I personally don'tn think that would happen.
If it's the exact same scenario just different victims then yes they probably would have acted the same regardless.

I really think its a huge stretch to call this incident racist. If anything it removed all responsibility from the real issues.

I think you’re continuing to argue against a point that isn’t being made. I addressed this here:

@Begbie - @Raymond Lin is making a point along the same lines that I was making.

There are two aspects of this:

- was the attack directly racially motivated?: and
- could prejudices in society in relation to the victim’s race have indirectly effected how he was treated by law enforcement?

If the answer to the first question is ‘no’, it doesn’t mean the answer to the second question is necessary also ‘no’.

Nobody in the thread has yet suggested that this was a ‘racist’ or ‘racially motivated attack’. But this doesn’t mean how the victim was treated wasn’t informed by his perceived social/class/racial identity.

I’ll say it again with different words: just because an attack isn’t racially motivated doesn’t mean that how a victim was treated wasn’t informed by his perceived identity.

If I was a criminal out looking to mug someone, I would be targeting someone that I assumed I could successfully mug. If that happened to be an elderly person, that wouldn’t make it an ‘ageist motivated crime’ - yet it would have indirectly affected what took place.

Of course you don't becusse you believe the dude is having the living snot beat out of him due to systematic racism within the police force.

I don't think you understand the point being made at all.

PROFILING, not just racisim. Skin colour is only 1 of the aspect in the profile.

Ethnicity clearly has an effect here, but I'd be amiss trying to argue why without the help of a psychologist though casually I can quite easily say that the dehumanisation required to beat a man to death is surely helped along by the furore over race in America and no I don't think the ethnicity of the officers matters much here as there has always been victims-turned-violators throughout history in just about every case institutional oppression, in fact they're often the worst perpetrators.

The absolute gymnastics required to make this white man's fault is Olympic gold worthy.

They seemed so proud of themselves at the end, a feather in the cap whilst the man was practically dying infront of their eyes.

Just the tip of the iceberg, vast majority of police brutality gets brushed under the rug, if not for video footage so would have this. In fact I reckon just the body cam footage would not have sufficed and they probably would have got away with it. The aerial footage is the most incriminating, which was just by chance.
I shudder to think what some people got away with before the cameras were a thing.

There’s got to more to this than bad cops going nuts after some random young man gobs off and resists during a routine traffic stop.
agree - they haven't released any prior dashcam coverage to explain history, but why he then antagonized them, and ran off (even though subsequent confrontation obviously unacceptable),
they have deadly force why wouldn't you comply (it's a normal, that UK/eu population can't relate to), however you see elements of antagonizing, in the way that likes of bianca williams&co respond to uk police (slippery slope)

True, but i can't think of a defence how the victim abuse you verbally would justify several of them kicking him to death for several minutes when he is now handcuffed, tazed and now on the floor.

I can't even imagine using that as a defence in court....say "he called my mum a whore! so I had to kick him in the head" ???

I'm not saying that at all, African-American communities are their own worst enemy and incidents like this proves it. I'd hope it was a chance to admit it but I doubt they will.

Fair enough, it does come across that way in your post though.

I'm just struggling to see how these guys look like 'thugs'

They certainly acted like it and I hope they have a really, really rough time mixed in with the other inmates. But I don't see how they look like thugs other than in their mugshots.
It's GD, urban youth innit.

Cameras/recording equipment have been around for a loooong time
Police bodycams have only been worn widely in the US since 2012 and in the UK since 2005 according to Wikipedia. That doesn't seem like a long time ago to me.
