Ubisoft FarCry 5 'are you ready' thread just shown up....

Yup you can turn off pretty much everything in Far cry games so not really an issue.

Can't wait to play this on oled, assassins creed origins and the division are just stunning looking.

Got to give it to ubi, putting aside their past false advertising "gameplay trailers" with regards to graphics, DRM practices, bugs galore on release day/week/month etc....... they sure do know how to make stunning open world environments.

Yup, Primal is the most beautiful i've seen.

With absolutely nothing to do in them.
If they put as much thought into stuff to actually do rather than just rinse, repeat every single mission they would be absolutely awesome.

I couldn't believe how shallow and little there was to do in The Division in particular, every mission was nothing but hiding behind something while unloading an armada into a bullet sponge, then grabbing a bit of loot that may or may not increase a number on an excel spreadsheet....yay!

Digging out my ingrowing toenail is more fun.

Surely you could say the same about every game?

witcher 3 - just run around and do boring ass side quests i.e. enter a 30 minute long conversation every 30 minutes, track something, kill, rinse and repeat
fallout 4 - enter a 15 min conversation and then go from point a to point b killing everything in sight to get better gear, rinse and repeat (post apocalyptic setting and building your base up etc. was good fun though)
Shooter games - go from point a to point b killing waves of the same enemies over and over again

ASCO is pretty much like the witcher 3 in many ways but FAR more fun than what that game will ever be, it is repetitive like most games but the somewhat decent story + lovely open world especially with it being based in Egypt is what keeps me coming back. Ever since playing unity, every game just feels empty and dead compared to it.

I do agree with the division though, the only reason I kept coming back to it after the story/grind to 30 was due to the new york setting and the gunplay/mechanics (I liked this)

You are of course right to a certain extent.

While I was one of the few that didn't really like The Witcher 3, a few of the missions in there did stand out (the ghost baby one in particular!), Fallout 4 again yes you are right but again some of the side quests like The Lost Patrol, Curing Cait, USS Constitution and The Secret of Cabot House amongst a few really did offer something different in the narrative.

I honestly can't remember a single mission from FC3, The Division or any of the AC games that I have played (haven't played Origins though I'll admit) because the narrative was pretty much exactly the same for every one.

It's shame really because if the AC worlds were opened to modding community like the Fallout and Skyrim worlds are I'm sure they would work absolute wonders with it.

FC 3 is the only game where I remember the story really well, especially the villain Vaas. Hated FC 4 and enjoyed primal for the setting.

But yes, ultimately most games are forgettable.

Hopefully the fact they are listing SLI and Crossfire for 4k 60 FPS means scaling is solid out the box and also on the above page

“PC has always been a key element of Far Cry’s DNA, and this couldn’t be truer with Far Cry 5,” says Kirill Bragin, PC Version Producer on Far Cry 5. In order to help ensure PC players have the best experience possible, the Benchmark feature and video memory usage meter will help you analyze your system and calibrate the myriad visual options, including variant aspect ratio support, FOV adjustment, optional FPS locking, and resolution scaling. But players won’t need to dive into the calibration menus if they don’t feel like it, says Bragin, because “the game will auto-detect the user’s hardware and will set the matching quality preset and resolution.” Furthermore, Far Cry 5 will support multi-GPU functionality, allowing players to significantly improve performance.

It was pushed back to its current date of 27th March from 27th of February at start of December 2017. So slipped a month which is not too bad if they use that time to polish the game as they said they would.

Ah that's not to bed at all then. For some reason I thought it had been pushed back to late summer. I did think it was weird for them to release recommended specs for a game not out for 6 or 7 months.

Just watched half an hour of gameplay via PCG, this looks like absolute trash.

So much for 'going away from the far cry formula'. Looks even more casual than ever before.
