Ubisoft FarCry 5 'are you ready' thread just shown up....

I'm tempted to give this a go with no HUD?

I would if I was you as currently you need to do whatever you can to up the difficulty level, as it stands even on the hard levels if you play with the default settings the game is WAY WAY too easy. If you get a scoped rifle and put a silencer on it you can wipe out pretty much everything without taking a single hit. The AI is also very poor which means that even if you dont bother with a silenced scope, you can literally just run into camps and run about shooting everyone until the camp is cleared.

On the plus side, the game engine runs really well and I really love the Seed family and think they are very well portrayed and acted.

Only playing this in co-op, my buddy is away for a week so I'll just wait impatiently for his return.

So far we've spent a couple of hours messing around blowing up cars etc, recently found the dog :)

Finally managed to stick a few hours in this and I'm a little confused as to whether the game is bugged or it has odd progression game-play. First mission after liberating Dutch island.
Cleared out the saw mill and decided to head south and ended up clearing out the marina and received a mission to find a helicopter and decided to wander off to the first way point which was south east from that location. Near that location in the woods I discovered a women being held by a lone gunman, rescued her which triggered a dream-like sequence (shan't say anymore) which dumped me further across the map outside of a prison. Eh?!

You crossed over the boundaries of the areas. If you go to the map and scroll out as far as you can, it'll separate into three zones. The sawmill is close to the marina bit in Faith's zone, where the mill is in Jacob's.

I understand that; the query was more whether it was expected that specific event triggering would dump you out in an area of the map you've never explored. It felt somewhat jarring to rescue the "girl", then dream sequence and then "waking up" in an unexplored area of the map. I'll assume it was intentional game-play!

Can't believe it - my R9 290 issues giving me poor performance was down to the clocks running at half speed. It had been bugging me why I was getting 30-40fps since release and it turns out I've been running at half the core clock for over a year via Afterburner and never noticed.

I whacked the core reset button on Afterburner and FC5's fps shot up to 70fps right away. Now running 1080p in ultra settings with shadows on Normal, and Motion Blur off I can manage 60-70fps.

Tried ds4windows just now but when I plug the ps4 pad directly into the pc it doesn't show up ?

I find DS4windows to be very flakey. If it stops working I have to go into Device Manager, and find the Game Controller with an exclamation mark, uninstall it, then reconnect the controller again and it appears.

Make sure you have Uplay closed the when you fire up DS4Windows so it can get it in exclusive mode, otherwise games have a spaz out and can't decide whether to show PS or XB Icons.

I need to stop being tight and just get an XB1 controller :p

Only played a couple hours so far...taking a while to get into it and find some UI settings and controller that feels decent. I played a lot of wild lands just before starting this and it's quite an adjustment.

This runs really well for me. 1440p 70fps minimum on the benchmark on latest nvidia drivers at ultra with taa. Liked the intro but experimenting with HUD options. I actually think I prefer it all off so far bar health, damage and weapon info. The markers from spotting are ridiculous given its basically a wall hack.

Typical Far Cry affair minus climbing towers to unlock the map. Loads of things to do, loads of weapons, bags of fun, gorgeous to look at, brilliant soundtrack and sfx. But its very easy with rubbish AI. That pretty much sums it up.

The very easy and rubbish AI is made up for a lot in co-op in my opinion. Two of us clearing out camps with nothing but shovels has made it a decent challenge and hilarious.

whats everyones general opinion on this game?

I'm loving it, set it to hard and get some of the HUD options turned off (mainly the wall hack spotted option tbh) and its a great romp.
The AI is bat **** crazy though, yesterday I'm walking through the woodland when the plane below just fell out of the sky in front me, it then spends the next 5 minutes trying to take back off through a tree and then blows up....

Like previous, fun with lots of missions and side stuff to do but it will get a bit samey and the extended cut scenes can break up the action too much sometimes. AI is not great and Hard with no enemy tracking is a must for me. Enemy spawning can also be annoying when you just want to get from one mission to the next without fast travel.

Go climb Eagle Peak or whatever it's called and have a look around. Great Vista and runs really well on my system.

I really hope there’s a patch / mod to tone down the amount of enemies

It makes no sense I’ve liberated a whole area yet they are still driving round in massive packs minute after minute, this game batters you.

I sometimes just want to walk about and enjoy the world without getting constantly attacked. To me it would be more realistic if there were less on the roads etc.

Just finished the campaign last night.
The ending from the 'good' choice was a bit over the top with that nuclear bomb going off.
It also made returning to the world feel really weird as everyone appears to be going about their business as if the family never existed, there's still conflict with Peggies but little or no mention of the leaders.

I saw that the game also has an option like Far Cry 4 to not do anything at the beginning for 10 minutes during the arrest sequence and get another ending, might try that out when I finish doing side missions to see what happens.

Almost had a complete meltdown a couple of missions before the final one though... the game glitched and dropped my character off a tower after completing a mission, so I didn't have the ability to open my parachute. Since it was a completed mission, it saved the game in that moment so I was stuck in a cycle of watching my character fall to their death.

Enjoying the game, the story is really bad but the general gameplay and look of the world makes up for it, the game needs a bit more action but it's a nice game to explore and do the odd mission.

I had the complete opposite problem for most of the game, a lot of the time it felt empty as I hardly encountered any resistance... even the wildlife seemed non-existent for a lot of my play through.
