Ubisoft FarCry 5 'are you ready' thread just shown up....

Typical Far Cry affair minus climbing towers to unlock the map. Loads of things to do, loads of weapons, bags of fun, gorgeous to look at, brilliant soundtrack and sfx. But its very easy with rubbish AI. That pretty much sums it up.

If you remove the interface on hard, it's a lot more challenging. Changes the game completely and feels less cheesy.

Finished the main campaign after a measly 22hrs and I take my time with games. Took 10hrs to finish my first area (Jacob) and then I took my time with the latter two, but focused primarily on the story missions rather than outposts and helping civvies as the latter two contribute to resistance points too much. I saw the ending coming though and have no issues with it.
Nuclear baby!

Overall I hugely enjoyed the game and do plan on restarting again at some point. I still have plenty of outposts/sidequests and missions left to do so I'm ready to tackle that now.

Yes there are a TON of bugs and issues, AI and the speed at which Resistance points accumulate are the main ones with the latter being by real main complaint about the game design - nothing an update can't fix. I look forward to seeing what Ubisoft will do with the game now as I am hoping we get some nice story canon dlc in future.

8/10 - FarCry 4 was better and had loads more to do. This is a great game, but just far too easy overall and forced boss encounters ruins some of it.

I agree acutally, I do feel 4 was better though I'm still having a laugh.
I also preferred the weapons roster from 4 as well and there were more of them. It seems like they have been cut down in this 1 in favour of special skinned weapons with zero stat difference from the same non skinned weapons thats fully upgraded.

The MG42 from FC4 was a thing of beauty!

Oh yes, the Buzzsaw! I used the M249 exclusively throughout FC5 as like you said the weapons list isn't all that - same goes for vehicles.

Edit: I'd just like to add this quickly as I forgot to state it in my post above. FarCry isn't about a story told to you by the developers, it is imo about YOUR story. In FC3 as much as I recall your decisions shaped the ending as it did in FC4. I wanted to save everyone in FC4 and my tube changed halfway through and I wiped out all the key characters - I wanted to be king.

Only youuuuuuuu....

If I complete an area e.g. John Seed’s territory but leave all the outposts, can I come back to these later? Also will there still be enemies etc in that area?

I’m trying to rush through one sector so I can unlock the 4th weapon slot. Then I’m going to slow down and just enjoy the world :). Want more weapon versatility though for when I’m roaming around.
You can leave the outposts yes, and it is a good move to do so. However killing John, or the boss of a region does reduce roadside enemies a bit.

Having finished the game earlier today I've still got active outposts left in Faith and John's areas and enemy traffic is still present but a lot manageable.

Anyone got any ideas as to why I can't get my ps4 pad to work via the steam link in far cry 5 ? I've tried all sorts :(

Only way I can get it to work is by plugging the controller directly into the pc but I want to play on the tv in bed and the pc is in the next room

PS4 pad is working okay for me on SteamLink. Presume you have the latest updates installed?

Latest updates for far cry ? Or steam link ? I presume I have, I have bought the game off uplay then added it to steam library ? But I didn't think that would matter as it has to be played via uplay anyway

Edit: Have you tried using the d pad ? Just realised i never actually mentioned its just the d pad that doesn't work when using the link :( really hacking me off haha spent 2 hours this evening and still couldn't get it to work

The gun play in this game is just fantastic, the graphics never fail to wow me such a superb game for that alone. Even if the game told me to **** off constantly for 30 hours straight I'd still love it purely for how bloody gorgeous it looks :D

Except for strolling along happily in the woods, when a wolverine attacks you seemingly out of nowhere as you can't see the buggers! Same for the rattlers. I can't see you but I can hear yo..OWW!

I also love the handbrake turns in cars on this. It actually feels like the handbrake has been yanked up rather than a switch being turned on like in most racers.

Enemies only despawn once you've killed the main target and completed all the outposts in that area.

I think I only need to collect 7 or so whiskey barrels and that'll be everything done for me pretty much. Got that souped up fishing rod recently for beating all the fishing records in each zone, which helps with 'The Admiral' side mission. I'm not going bother with some of the challenges like skin a hare etc.

Also if you're stuck on 40/41 missions completed in John's region, take his airplane and shoot down the big YES sign in the hills ;)

Really loving the game so far, looks lush, plays well on my modest system and there's just so much to do........which is something that I get a bit confused about, FC4 was the same for me. There's too much going on at any one time. You'll be travelling halfway across an area to head to an objective and then bump into another NPC who will give you another mission albeit usually a side-mission and the little 'Press TAB to track' box comes up. Won't be the first time I've thought 'Ah.....right I'll just do this one first then continue to my original objective'. Any subsequent events of a similar nature then compound that.

Don't get me wrong, I love thats there is literally tons of stuff to do but for me in a way, it kinda detracts from the flow of the game play in a small way?

The other thing I don't like is not being able to go prone. We've got a load of sniper rifles available and I'd much prefer the ability to lie on the ground and use them. Plus a prone option would be handy for sneaking around in stealth mode if for example you could hide in tall grass when the enemy drives past on patrol.

Couple of gripes but as I said, still loving it to bits.

I was referring to SteamLink, the d-pad doesn't work for me either and that includes the XBox controller. Other than to try out FC on the link I play on my PC so not sure how much difference it makes.
