I was quite apprehensive about getting this because I didn't enjoy FC4 after loving FC3. It ran poorly, the gameplay was a copy of FC3 and I didn't like the characters or main villain. Also my system is getting quite old now (2500k, HD7970, 16gb.)

However I'm really pleased I did. I've had no issues at all, it runs fantastically with a combination of High and Ultra settings and there's been no crashes. It looks amazing, the soundtrack is great and the gameplay is really fun. I'm pleased they changed certain things like how crafting and gathering works, also I think they balanced the weapons and gameplay a whole lot better. I remember getting the grenade launcher in FC4 and it basically ruined the entire game, nothing could survive against it. This time around the enemies will punish you if you're not on point and I think there's more skill involved too.

As has been pointed out the game is just crazy with AI spawns. When I first left the starter island and I was getting used to the game, the amount of enemies and animals coming at me was insane. The roads carry endless legions of enemies to the point you can't chill out. I didn't like it at first but as I played more, I actually think its good decision because I find I enjoy the game more when the gameplay comes to me rather than me having to go looking for it and then dictating what happens. This way crazy **** happens all the time and it can be hilarious which matches the subtle wacky humour. Also I love how the companion system works, they feel actually helpful, each of them is unique and they don't get it the way which I thought they would originally.

The story. I like it, I think its much better than FC4. It's not quite as gripping as FC3 which made me feel like I was really stuck on the island with Vaas and his legion of crazies. The tribal aspect of FC3 really worked too, it felt a bit like The Beach were the protagonist is getting further and further away from his original personality and goal and was turning into someone/something else. This time around it's less personal (voiceless hero) but I think the environment and world is tighter and really well established with the cult. I haven't finished it yet but I'm liking the villains. The way they managed to get Joseph Seeds eyes to appear unhinged and loopy is amazing :D

Just wished they sold for more. Fishing I find enjoyable but the selling price kinda makes hunting more of a profit.
I have around 70 grand with nothing to spend it on, or nothing I want anyway.
Have not got a clue as to what I am supposed to do with all the silver bars I have?

I've got 250k / 1,100 silver bars and also have no idea what to do with it for the most part. I don't want to spend the money incase Ubi update that webstore with more weapons (quite sure they will) and I would save those silver bars for when NG+ arrives as anything purchased with those gets tied to your account and thus it'll be available right away should you restart the game.

Where does it tell you how many silver bars you have, and how on earth did you get so many as I am sure once you have collected them then they do not reappear in another playthrough?

Top right on the map screen should be your cash and bar count? Each outpost has about 40 or 50 iirc. I got about 400 or so accumulated from Arcade I would estimate. Some have also been from the 2x 'live community events' too. Would be nice if we could get a silver bar breakdown!

I'm still on my first play through as I don't want to start again, I'd rather wait for NG+ instead.

I wish I wasn't shot at every damn second between the missions, you can't move 100 meters without getting spotted and shot at, so damn annoying. Apart from that the game is fun with varied missions, oh, and the AI is like the worst kind, so damn stupid.

I've just completed FC5 and I have to say I did enjoy it, probably more than most games I've played in the last year. I can't quite understand the hatred to it by some (I know it's a tad expensive). I thought the story line was solid and the hired guns all offered something unique.

Pluses:
Amazing environment for a game, and the rendering is really impressive. Graphically I think it's extremely immersive.
I think the cut scenes where well done, as was the character acting pretty much throughout the game.
Some of the missions are a quite good fun (#aliens)
Really liked the hired guns and specialist recruits.
Ending is great :D

Cons:
It's to much of a ball ache early on to explore because the AI enemies are everywhere.
Once you have an armoured helicopter it's basically game over.
I did not like the shooting dynamics.
"Failed to connect to Fry Cry 5 service" (#bugs)

Overall it's a great game.

Well to me, it is a damn sight better than Far cry 4 (main thing being that the story + characters sucked in that game), it also helps that this is my dream location/setting! :D

Just a shame that some of the graphics were reduced from far cry 4:

Still, it looks better overall.

Man, this game might be 8/10 but the soundtrack is pure 10

Listening to it with headphones for the first time and I imagine this is how heaven would sound like if it was real.

It’s pretty good especially for a video game soundtrack but Hammocks done better stuff imo, you should definitely check out his discography if you like this.

I wish more devs would use professional music producers for their soundtracks, the results are always so much better... you don’t end up with god awful “video game sounding music”, you end up with music that actually holds up on its own.

Amon Tobins Splinter Cell Chaos Theory soundtrack is the prime example of this imo

Going through my second playthrough after after being forced to go after Joseph Seed when I really could not be bothered to as there was much to do in his area and I have pretty much lost interest now. Hopefully the forthcoming DLC will rekindle my interest.

Been playing a week or so now and it's good fun but noticeably buggy and not as complete a game as Far Cry 4

So far i've had:
  • Usual manic spawning issues outside liberated areas
  • Enemies holding hostages de-spawning when moved outside the field of view of my scope
  • Ran my dog over when turning left even though he should have been some distance behind me
  • Have currently lost the dog completely (Roster shows he is with me but he isn't, doesnt spawn anywhere or show on the map)
  • Captured goods trucks rear doors wont open
  • Quest items floating in mid air (when I shot the irrigation pipe off the windmill, it fell half way then got stuck in mid air)
Not massively game-breaking but does kill the immersion, I don't remember Far Cry 4 suffering from such noticeable bugs, and still pretty flabbergasting how a AAA title made it out the door with some of these and how slow they are to fix it.
