UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [27/28/29 September 2016]

Fellaini has been awful all season, a lot of people were saying both Fellaini AND Rooney had been okay, largely because they won games with both playing. Fellaini still plays slow as hell and IIRC, was he not involved in that back pass that led straight to a goal? Was that maybe only the community shield or one of the early league games. Fellaini and Rooney were jointly responsible for how slow and insipid the Utd midfield was. Them winning games against mostly poor opposition doesn't mean he didn't play badly.

Nonsense, the first few games everyone was going on about how well he's playing under Mourinho. One not so good game and suddenly he's been awful all season.

No he shouldn't be in the PL starting lineup but against a team like this?

No, a few people were saying he was good, absolutely not everyone, and a lot of people said Rooney was good up till he was dropped. A lot of people are wrong about most things, that is life.

He's freaking terrible, I said he was terrible all season, I said Rooney was terrible all season.

Fellaini had won the ball a number of times to be fair - in his clumsy way.

But that doesn't make him good or a good performance.

The baseline for a professional football is to win a few tackles, make a few interceptions, be okay positionally, track quite a lot of attacking runs. The baseline/average is NOT falling over your own feet, making zero tackles, making zero interceptions and being out of place. If you're on the pitch winning the ball is something pretty much every player will do a few times a game, defensive player or not. There is more to his job than winning the ball, being part of a cohesive team, being in the right position defensively so the rest of the defence isn't compensating for him being out of position. Passing the ball well after you win it, passing well throughout the game, looking up and turning defence into attack, etc, etc.

Robbie Savage whinging at Fellaini for pulling a defender down which was complete rubbish. Next minute he is whinging at him for not going for a ball and says he should have gone for it and smashed them all (the defenders).

Savage does my head in, i don't mind any of the pundits really but Savage is proper annoying.
