Well they're not that baffling, he clearly dislikes Gerrard, so it makes perfect sense that he sees no value in anything Gerrard does and attributes anything positive to a player he does like. ie. Parker.
There are sadly quite a few English people who want them to lose as well so are happy to stick the boot in.

In 2004 I thought he was going to be our biggest player and he got injured.
Since then I don't understand what people rate in him for England. He's never been any good. Class for pool, not for England.
