UEFA Euro 2012 - Group D - ** spoilers ** (England, France, Sweden, Ukraine)

I was embarrassed by us last night, what a shocking display

I've seen far FAR worse from England, what else did you expect? a free flowing 5-0 win?
England got the job done, topped their group and have a good chance at getting to the Semi's. People would have laughed in your face if you even hinted this pre Euros.

unfortunately, this incident just happens to lend support to the reason fifa/uefa have given in the past for not having the sort of technology introduced into the game, where do you draw the line :(.

with goaline technology, it would have been given, as they wouldn't have checked or seen for the offside.

That linesman was shocking though, Ukraine almost scored with a header even though the striker was standing a yard offside but the lino didn't flag.

As the saying goes two wrongs don't make a right, the game needs goal line tech imo... it's better than having useless goal line officials stood holding giant sticks anyway.

don't get me wrong i agree with that, and to be fair theres more chance of a goal line incident than there being an offside leading up to it.

got to love blatter trolling for the tech know that england have won a game due to it not being used.

not like the guys standing at the side of the goal have much to do and they still miss things like that.

Typical JT. Gets exposed for pace & poise in the build up, then gets the plaudits for doing the desperate last ditch ****...

I hate him as much as anyone, but I was praising him for that! even though it was probably in, if he was any later, the goal would have been given even though it was offside.

He does look out of touch though.

England beat Ukraine, top their group, progress to the quarter finals and in the process deftly avoid having to play the current reigning World and European champions. Yet the negativity is still rife.

I just don't understand this constant negative attitude at all.

England were terrible last night in all honesty u expect more from them, for me gerrard is just carrying england on his back the guy is just class, it will be a tough game for england against the italians and if england play like they did last night i dont see them going through especially rooney he needs to perform i know it's his 1st game in like 3 weeks so he should be better against the italians.

I like Gerrard (in an England shirt at any rate lol), and while he has made some vital crosses /free kicks, he has been criminal in regards to losing possession / bad passes as well

Its not just him by any means, but he hasnt been as good as your post implies either imo

feel sorry for gerrard and parker, both of them came into the championships less than 90% (injuries and/or lacking match fitness), i reckon hodgson was looking to rotate them with lampard and barry but both of them were forced out.

which then makes you look at his backups and asking what else he could have done.
