Not sure what you are expecting against San Marino?
Well, it would be nice if when playing against the joint worst team in the world, comprised mostly of what amount to amatuer players, that we would be able to play with some flair and some skill, work some clever movements, be comfortable on the ball...
Instead we spent an evening making through balls to no one, over hit crosses, hit and hope shots thumped into bodies, failing to beat defenders over and over again, combined with our supposed best player, Captain Wayne Rooney - a man paid £300,000 per week because of how good at football he supposedly is, repeatedly failing to score against a man who works part time as an accountant and part time as a footballer.
I mean christ, we got 5 goals but one was a soft penalty, one the goalkeeper was tripped over and one was a massively unlucky deflected own goal.
We only actually really scored 2 half decent goals from open play, that's appalling against San Marino IMO. Hell, Germany put more past Brazil than we just managed against San Marino. If that doesn't highlight just how far away from the big leagues we really are I don't know what will.
After banging on about performance matters not goals, what we saw was the same old England, poor performance.
