Pickford

James/Walker - Stones - Mings - Shaw/Trippier

Rice/Philips - Bellingham

Foden

Sancho - Kane - Grealish

Easy.

Ive put a few ORs in because they’re much of a muchness. The full backs have all had a chance and been pretty poor. Trippier possibly edges Shaw because he can actually take a free kick or a corner and not hit the first man.

Rice OR Philips, not both. He will play both though.

That doesn’t work. You need pace either side of Kane.

Sancho? He’s plenty quick enough.

He’s not much quicker than Kane himself if at all.

When I say pace I mean you do need Rashford or Sterlings level of pace around Kane for him to play at his best.

Personally I’d go with your team and replace Kane with DCL or Rashford. Ideally Vardy but I can see why he retired when the team was constantly built around Kane. Now Kane is in poor form it’s bringing the whole team down.

Any way, point is if you want Kane to play you need to choose either Grealish or Sancho and swap them with Rashford or Sterling.

Not sure what to say to that, Sancho is rapid he’s up there with Rashford for pace. Both have been clocked and there’s not a lot between them.

Sterling has had his chance, a scruffy goal aside he’s been poor.

totally, just like last world cup.

I want them to win tonight, and actually put in a good performance where they show some actual passion for playing for their country. One thing that annoyed me was Hoddle saying that Kane will perform in an important match, all games in your national shirt should be important, so don't give me that rubbish! Personally I think he's suffering fatigue or the transfer saga has got to him.

Selective memory or was Hoddle in hospital when we played Croatia last world cup? Kane didn't show up for that match. He went missing the previous game and was like a zombie for the Croatia crunch match. Southgate kept him on for far too long, like he always does.

Well that wasn’t something I was aware of. I know he’s not slow but I can’t see him matching Rashford and Sterling in terms of acceleration and sheer running power.

In terms of keeping the ball, vision, going past people and passing I think he has their pants down.

I wouldn’t be against Rashford starting as long as he’s out wide, basically as long as Grealish starts and Sterling doesn’t I’m mostly good :p

Sterling to start and have a worldy to make me look a tool. I’d take it :)

They both need to be played at the same time as otherwise the first game might render the second one pointless before it's even been played. Pretty standard stuff!

Yeah am well aware of that but I just wanted to watch as much of the tourney as possible irrespective of whether the matches mean anything. Silly me eh.

I genuinely think we should be looking at Grealish as an attacking midfielder rather than a winger instead of two CDMs

I think he could do either, could stick Foden out wide and Grealish AM instead.

I wouldnt be surprised if CR just sit back in which case we need his guile and trickery. He can buy us free kicks all around the box for the likes of Trippier (if he plays).

Sadly I dont think he starts. Will likely get 15 minutes at the end of the game.

Rashford is pretty awful too and has been for ages. I'd be tempted to stick DCL on although would have preferred we took Watkins.
I didn't realise we hadn't. FFS he's an odd manager Southgate... I'd have taken Watkins over DCL. I'd have taken Watkins over Rashford too tbh
