Kane has managed to head the ball on from a hoof up field straight to the opposition multiple times. Its world class play, give the man a break.
 
I would like to point out that was the first football match I have tried to watch in a very very long time at least 15years. I gave up after 15mins and watched a recording of Aussie opal hunters which was faster paced and more exciting.
 
The only major tournament in my living memory where a team who on paper had no right to win it and wasn't one of the usual suspects was Greece in 2004. Dull, not conceding, 1-0 smash and grabs, a few penalty shoot-outs... the blueprint has been laid already!

We started watching it. At half time we both got out the phones/tablets and were texting, browsing, etc throughout the 2nd half, which in my wife's words "it's all got a wee bit dull hasn't it? There's more life in a morgue"

Denmark before that in 1992 as well. Got drafted in at the last minute when….one of the Yugoslav countries had an issue I think. Or maybe even Yugoslavia themselves, but it was less than a weeks notice AFAIK. They rocked up, decided just to have some fun with it instead of taking it super seriously and went and won it!

I’m glad Southgate isn’t pandering to the ‘more goals lol’ brigade. Being boring is how you make sure you don’t lose.

The balance between attack and defence is pretty much there for the opposition we will now face, no more Scotland etc. Two CDMs is about to make a lot of sense.

Hopefully we take more of our chances going forward and Kane gets more room to move the way he wants to.

Pragmatic, meh. Boring and lacklustre more like. I'd rather lose than win like this.

Better to lose like Leeds than lose like a Mourinho team. Thats the problem. Its not a case of "play like a Mourinho team and we will win the competition". Our strength is our attacking players, not our defence. We will be carved open by the big boys in the competition if we try to sit back. At least we will give them pause for thought defensively if we actually attack them.

We have scored 2 goals all tournament
 
Southgate will be watching the Spain-Slovakia match and saying "see chaps, this is why we have to defend-defend-defend" instead of looking at Spain and saying "that's what a change in attacking players can achieve"
