so predictions for this weekend folks?

Mine are Italy, Spain, Denmark and England to progress.

Belgium probably without one, maybe both, of Eden H or KDB
Switzerland without Xhaka
Denmark just have that feel of going on a roll
Yarmolenko looked spent for Ukraine. If we cut out Zinchenko and the other mid they look vulnerable at the back.

Also re resting players on a yellow it's totally what we should do when the bench is what it is. we can always bring on people later 5 subs after all. Chilwell Mings Foden and Henderson all look good to drop in IMO without messing things up. Don't forget last time he didn't mix it up for Columbia and we looked dog tired when we got to play Croatia.

Italy to beat Belgium(who I dont think have been that great also with Hazard and KDB being 50/50 chance to play).
Spain will have too much for the Swiss
Cant call Czech vs Denmark, toss a coin on that one though leaning Denmark.
Obvs England will triumph with glorious stomping of Ukraine.

Xhaka is a big miss for the Swiss but I wouldn't write them off after they've just knocked out the favourites.
Italy to beat Belgium, the other Hazard is better for them so eden missing isn't too big, they go a lot more defensive without KDB so it'll be a close game. Anything can happen with one of the most inform strikers in Lukaku.
Danes and the Czech look very even, should be a great game, too close to call.
England should beat Ukraine, not having any of this they'll be tired nonsense after Croatia in the WC, even with a slightly rotated squad we should be controlling the game and score a couple.

Nah, Italy haven't been that good and barely scraped through their last game. Belgium will beat them with or without KdB. Hazard is no great loss at the moment.

Genuinely couldn't call anything with any major confidence. Been too many upsets already.
I know, but those upsets came at a price. Switzerland lost Xhaka who was on fire for them (suspended), Yarmolenko looked in a bad way at the end of Ukraine's game, whether he is ok to play and how well he can do if he does remains to be seen. Denmark are the quiet stealth machine and it will be interesting to see how the Czechs get on, whether they continue to improve or whether the Danish back line can shut them down. Spain will dive their way through and Italy's defense looks more solid than the Belgian one.

All that said, never underestimate England's ability to mess things up. Rob Green gaffe/Phil Neville pen/Beckham red card/Rooney red card etc etc

Spain and Denmark I reckon are pretty nailed-on.

Italy/Belgium I have no idea. Tossed a coin. It said Belgium.

Eng/Ukraine... do any of those Ukrainian players have Icelandic lineage? :p The second I predict an England win they will lose, so I'm going for a Ukraine win.

I know exactly what you mean. Anything could happen. It feels like we should be able to beat them, but then we should have been able to beat Scotland so...

Every player in the england team alone is probably worth more than the entire Ukraine team. We should be beating them and if we don't we have cocked up somewhere.

Zinchenko is worth more than White or Mings (for example). "Value" is not a good comparison. Leicester would never have won the league if that's what decided it.

Isn't white going for ~£50m and neither White nor Mings is first XI when everyone is fit.

My point was more that we have a squad worth on paper probably close to 1bn and they have perhaps 2 players that are worth mentioning in that regard. If we can't beat them then there is something wrong.

I don't see any of their team being the next Kante or Mahrez either.

oh on that I agree. But then Scotland result, Iceland result, etc etc. Weird things happen. Or rather underperformances and bad tactics happen.

They sure do or we would just value all our players at £100m each and win the tournament by default :p

I still fancy Denmark to do some more damage to a big team or two.

The Iceland game was totally down to Roy, tactically inept a catalogue or errors and mistakes, went for reputation over form.

Scotland playing England means everything to Scotland, it was their Euro final. They played well above their station you could see the desire to do well against us, they gave everything, even though they didn't win.
Just like before and after the England game Scotland went back to being terrible.

England playing Scotland, just another game, did we under estimate them? probably, but we have since grown into the tournament.

We are looking strong, I do think the game against Ukraine is going to be harder then whoever we might face in the Semi's.
