If you think these are local militia then you're deluded. Same goes for the one that invaded the Crimean parliament. The protestors were already there when the military arrived to take over the building. They're two separate entities.

How exactly do they not look like local militia? they have generic equipment, not all militias look like Africans in T-shirts wielding AK47's. Our WW2 home guard was a militia and looked very similar to the troops in the picture.

I guess you are simple then if you think the Russian armed services have invaded Ukraine despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Russia admits its troops are moving in Ukraine

15.50 BREAKING: The Russian foreign ministry has admitted that armoured units from the Black Sea Fleet base near Sevastopol had entered Crimea in order to protect fleet positions.
“The Ukrainian side was also passed a note regarding the movement of armoured vehicles of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea, which is happening in full accordance with the foundation Russian-Ukrainian agreements on the Black Sea Fleet,” the ministry said in a statement posted on its website on Friday afternoon.
In the same note the Russian foreign ministry said it had declined a Ukrainian request for “bilateral consultations” on events in Crimea because they are “the result of recent internal political processes in Ukraine.”

The plan was to air-strike Syria to teach them a lesson.

In what way would that have helped anything other than to destabilize the region and create even more western animosity. They were very close to doing this.

Then you had the war mongering BBC and Sky News froffing at the mouth for some late night missile footage.

Not confirmed yet, but I'm hearing a Russian Vice Admiral has said that Russia is now at a state of war with Ukraine :( Just Twitter talk right now, so it may not be true....but I sure don't like where this is heading.

Who's a putin fanboi scorza? I thought the carpet bombing of chechnia was disgusting and the tower block bomb arrests were very dubious, however I understand that Russia was under covert attack from weirdos who were lobbying the west to make Russia validate pre revolutionary property holdings and tsarist bonds backed by the usual 7 sisters oil thieves and wana be oligarchs.

I just don't rabidly salivate at the prospect of yet another tv war extravaganza or think passion and ego motivate the big movers and shakers like the usual right wing mil nerds.

The Russians haven't admitted their armour movements they have stated thus a completely different conotation.

I accuse you of being a Putin fanboi because of your unwavering support for him in this thread. No-one wants war in the Ukraine except Russia it seems and to clarify even if Russian tanks roll down the streets of Kiev and Lviv I wouldn't support taking direct military action against Russia.

Do you still think that Russia hasn't invaded Ukraine?

Maybe stop accusing people of being fanboys because they have different view on the subject? You just thrown 3 logical fallacy: Strawman - you changed the subject onto being Putin "fanboi", ad hominem - you imply that his views should be dismissed because he supposedly fanboi, and finally black and white fallacy, you seem to imply that if one does not agree with western approch then you automatically become "Putin fanboi".

You keep pushing "it's invasion it's invasion" you put up a picture of helicopters over somewhere but no sources to confirm whether they are indeed russian and they are indeed crossing borders, you say 800 Russian troops just landed in Crimea yet you again provided absolutely no sources yet when other people do that you dismiss them because they did not provide sources and when I did provide sources you simply ignored it.

Fact of the matter is, right now, there's a lot of chaos, nobody really knows what is happening, facts are that pro-russian militia did secure government targets, the referendum called for by the Crimea was called before the militia secured the government building.

Those are facts, everything else from any side is a speculation.
