If the Russians do take the Dombass region they will have to defend it for years, Ukrain arent just going to let them keep it.

Unlikely to be used much.
It was part of the armoured convoy that got hit the other day I suspect. They didn't even have time to deploy it.

I think they're referring to more 'staged' events that they blame on the Ukrainians like the events in Bucha or the Kramatorsk station attack

I hope Ukraine has made the right choice about what to do regarding the likely encirclement of their most experienced forces as from the armchair perspective it looks somewhat unwise and would stop them reinforcing along the Dnieper, Kharkiv and such.
If they can somehow ensure this encirclement isn't feasible then perhaps staying would be the better option, but I'm sceptical...

My uniformed guess is that Russia will try and take everything East of the Dnieper River. They already hold Kershin and Nova, spreading up the East bank of the river seems like reasonable goal. It makes for relatively defensible border I assume.
