The Finnish Army has a wartime strength of 280,000 along with reserves of 900,000 well trained and equipped soldiers. 900,000 reservists for a country of 5.5 million.

I think this post on reddit sums it up nicely.

If they cant take Ukraine, they are even more unlikely to succeed in Finland would they try anything. Finland has been preparing for such an possibility since the second winter war ended some 70'ish years ago. They have modern well trained army (they have conscription) roughly the same size as Ukraine army was before invasion. The terrain is damn nightmare to assault, marshes, forests, and entire infrastructure of the country has been built to make Russian assault as hard as possible, with no large roads going perpendicular to the Russian border, all bridges built with prepared locations of explosive charges. They have bomb shelters deep in their granite bedrock for about 4.5 million people, because by law every single house above certain size must have bomb shelters. They have tunnels in larger cities built over the last 70'ish years.

Dunno what is going on here - for a few minutes ANKIN32 was showing as inside Moldova as well - looks like some GPS jamming or similar going on

Earlier some kind of shenanigans with a Romanian air force plane, but I didn't manage to catch it all on flight radar - dunno if they've managed to lose another plane or it got shot down or something :s

Bonkers. We've (I've) been living under a false sense of "the world is pretty bonkers but overall pretty calm" for so long.

A good percentage of their serviceable amphibious assault ships are tied up in the Black Sea and Eastern regions and not easily transferred to the Baltics so I dunno about that.

I figured they'd be going more for bombardment than actual invasion.

Sadly even a lot of the OSINT community are just amplifying the media currently, the occasional taking affront when someone calls a BMP a tank, etc. since it has kicked off there has been a massive nose dive in the amount of OSINT sources of digging up new information or insightful dissections of what is going on, etc.

As in WW2 when any Panzer in 1944 was a TIGER!

If you zoom in on flight radar it doesn’t actually enter Moldovan airspace

For awhile the track actually showed as inside then it snapped back to as it is in the image - doesn't seem to have good accuracy on the flight data on that aircraft - maybe intentionally.

Finland have road mobile RBS 15 mk 3 and for the navy are using the Israeli Gabrielle 5 system

To be entirely fair, that was the old Roman salute he was giving. Still not a good idea unless your part of a Roman Empire re-enactors guild.

I mean it's still a fascist salute, and illegal to give in Italy as a result. Not exactly smart when your fascist homeland is currently invading, and going full war crime, in another European nation.

Foolish boy. Tbf it's a good job there were no cameras at my school though, I think basically everyone will have popped a Nazi salute at one time or another to be edgy / make fun of a strict teacher etc. Kids don't understand why things like that are taboo (or at least tend to challenge the boundaries a lot more than adults do), and can well imagine someone daring him to do it and him not thinking through the consequences. He probably doesn't really have much of an understanding of what's going on in Ukraine either, and a Nazi salute is only obliquely relevant to the conflict - if he's a pro-denazification believer then he'd probably be unlikely to be using that sort of gesture to support the war... More likely some kind of z symbol like that gymnast.

At the same time I don't think anyone I knew ever did it on stage in front of a crowd of people, I think anyone with half a brain would have realised there would be consequences in that scenario. And I'm not going to feel too sorry for someone like that who likely comes from a very privileged background considering how expensive it is getting into Motorsport. Am sure he'll find other ways to amuse himself if banned from karting.

To be honest since he's apologised (probably not genuine, but still) I think some allowance for being a moron should apply (last chance obv) though the brand risk will always be a factor now.
