Tends to be related to distance. The more distant a conflict is the more that people deny it will ever affect them. We have to be thankful really that the powers that be in the USA realise that if Russia is not stopped then sooner or later they WILL be knocking on the door of the states.
All I can say is thank God that Trump is still not in power, because I guarantee you he would not lift a finger to help Ukraine. Without express permission from the USA, some of our weapon systems would not have been given to Ukraine.

They're not, it was just some optics.

Would be interesting if they had adapted them for those support weapon sights, it's not just map-predicted shooting you can use with that; can use the aiming lamp to mark and record (bearing, elevation) some key potential targets say a nearby bridge, road junction etc..etc. if they're later obscured by smoke or you're attacked at night and can no longer see the bridge/road junction etc.. it doesn't matter, all you need to know is the enemy is at that location and you dial it in. Can even have the no2s move away from the gun line and call in adjustments over the net.

Russia has been entirely untrustworthy and undemocratic for the last 100 years, who expected anything different this time from them?

Will be ironic if, as some in Russia have suggested, they start mobilising some of the security forces... i.e. a few of the guys who are rounding up conscripts then themselves get ordered to the front!

It seems likely that the "terror attack" where two conscripts opened up on their buddies and killed/wounded like 20 or so of them might have been some dual nationals, it seems Russia has been raiding hostels etc.. in St Petersburg, Moscow etc.. and rounding up construction workers from Central Asian countries etc..

I don't think they can spare any significant volume of actual troops away from the front with Ukraine though. Mobilised junk may beat civilians, but that depends.
