I saw the US is putting pressure on their citizens who may be working with China on semiconductor / computing technologies to stop doing so too. With the UK pilots thing as well seems like a concerted effort to slow china's development down slightly and send a bit of a message...

I doubt they were Chinese. Ethnically sure but 100% someone who is Chinese would not be able to get clearance to work on these things in the US.

So Susan the hairdresser down the road is wise enough to include restrictive covenants in her employment contracts but the MoD allow open game

Couldn't make it up

Susan may find her contract clauses worthless. That said if they were in government contracts they would probably carry more weight.

STOP THE STRAWMAN i was replying to YOU alone not addressing the other poster. If you are OFFENDED WOKE RIGHT then maybe just keep scrolling.

Strawman - "I was replying to YOU alone" - Ohhhhhhhhh and how did you let anyone, including myself, know that you were only talking to "me alone" in isolation when you quoted my post which was a reply to someone else?

Anyway, criticism of a nations policies is now and has always been fine but I think that a poster saying that they are "hoping" for Israelis to get hurt because they disagree with them is not and is anti-Semitic - would you agree that "hoping" for harm is very different than simply showing "criticism of policy"?

If you do then you've agreed with me that the person I responded to was wrong and if you don't, well thats just another person revealing their true colours in this thread, but its OK, it's happened a lot.

They never mentioned Jews though did they?

No, quite right I mentioned them and thats a good point I'd missed, they actually "hoped" for harm to ALL Israelis including the 74% of Jews there, which makes it worse to me. Does someone hoping for harm on civilians because they don't that countries policies make you feel uneasy? I know it makes me feel very unhappy.

Whilst I get it's difficult for Israel to do much more than humanitarian aid for a variety of reasons regardless of Russian influence it is going to get rather awkward if they continue to allow Iran to help Russia commit genocide on Ukraine which will likely result in more Israelis getting killed when these weapon systems mature and end up in the hands of Iran's proxies. In addition to this a lot of Israel's domestic and international politics revolves around it's right to exist and perhaps they don't really expect anyone to help them if that was threatened, but (and I don't know this for sure though suspect they've helped covertly) surely barely lifting a finger for Ukraine's right to exist is going to draw criticism?

Even then, there's nothing to say some nuclear warmongering person might not just take over if Putin was ousted.

While that is potentially a risk, Not getting rid of him is guaranteed to cause continued deaths and destruction of Ukraine.

Or to put it another way... it's a bit like people saying they refuse to vote Labour, even though the current government are the most inept, incompetent, self-serving, lying, thieving scum that have quite possibly ever been in power.

The idea that "the next person / lot could be worse, so perhaps we should do nothing" is not really a valid reason. (Not saying you're suggesting this btw)

Sink the ships.
The Strait of Hormuz would be closed within the hour. You think the energy crisis is bad now wait till oil can't leave the Gulf.

Russia has now knackered a lot of Ukraine's power stations. I imagine the Russians are planning to cut off the gas and freeze them into surrender. General Winter to the rescue?

I think they underestimate the will of the people of Ukraine and the ability of the west. Russia has not had trouble in its own backyard in its own little safe zone AKA Moscow, stuff is going to be started to be blown up internally sooner rather than later. Russia has plenty of western sympathisers nestled in its ranks its only a matter of time.
