The Strait of Hormuz would be closed within the hour. You think the energy crisis is bad now wait till oil can't leave the Gulf.

Russia has now knackered a lot of Ukraine's power stations. I imagine the Russians are planning to cut off the gas and freeze them into surrender. General Winter to the rescue?

I don't think they'll surrender even if they lose almost 100% of the power infrastructure.

this plan of bombing them into submission is probably doomed to fail if they keep on the current course, Ukraine will also get better air defenses in which will reduce the effectiveness of the drones.

@HungryHippos Maybe they won't surrender but replacing power stations is harder than replacing drones. It won't be easy to sustain a war whilst you people are freezing to death with no electricity and no heat.

Which is why its only a matter of time, before people that look like Russians, sound like Russians end up walking around in Russia blowing stuff up. Russia has picked off more than it can chew, its desperation they are using high value weapon systems to blow up anything they fancy. They have made themselves arch enemy to the rest of the world, nothing else to blame or counter it is 100% on their shoulders end of story.

As my grandaddy once said to me **** em.

I don't care about the energy crisis. People don't get something for nothing in reality.

They could sink the ships anywhere.

Shipping will go through the caspian sea, so it's not that straightforward.

Not sure any if the littoral states are particularly friendly with the US.

Never put objects in front of yourself of why one can't do something.

There is a thing called a submarine. Problem solved.

After watching Ukrainian grandmas carrying trees to put on the fire.
I have no doubt they will survive.
Some places haven't had electric since the start of the war.
But I don't see them complaining.

I mean sure it is, no one said it would be easy to do, that is why better air defense is such an important next step.

Just saying I don't think that alone will beat Ukraine into submission, tough people those Ukrainians that's for sure.

What makes you say that?

I had my gas metre took out months ago.
One could see this coming since 2016.

I also don't buy £3 cups of coffee and £4 sandwiches.
Good house keeping is the answer.
ah back to the old "young ones could afford a space ship if only they stopped having a warm drink in the morning"

Doesn't make sense :)

My 2 daughters and son are young.
The 2 girls have their own houses and the son is enjoying life.

Back on topic.

I saw the US is putting pressure on their citizens who may be working with China on semiconductor / computing technologies to stop doing so too. With the UK pilots thing as well seems like a concerted effort to slow china's development down slightly and send a bit of a message...

Because the Chinese are trying to win using our ideology, they do not care about economics. It has always been this way, cold war just changed format and I think some of the west are discovering this.
