So was the pause in advance so they could prepare to cross the river. Not just to take Kherson, but actually gain control of the other bank in a rapid combined push.

It will be interesting to see where Ukraine pushes next.

Two main options I see:

From Zaporizhia towards Melitopol if they think thats viable.
Splitting the Russians in half and denying them the supply routes through Melitopol would make the rest of Kherson unviable.
It would also make Crimea very hard for the Russians to supply as Ukraine have shown they can blow the Kerch bridge.
Problem would be having a potential narrow corridor with two flanks which would rely on the Russians not being able to counterattack.

Carrying on with the northern offensive has its benefits.
That would put pressure on the Donbas supply routes and probably force the Russians to halt the Bakhmut area attacks and redeploy.
It would also liberate the largest area in the shortest time.

I just hope that whatever they do they are successful and with as minimal Ukrainian casualties as possible.

Destroyed the bridge. Clearly they intend on coming back. /sarcasm.

UKR Should have destroyed the bridge in the first place when it all kicked off again. They completely screwed that up, possibly with traitors help unfortunately.
Did they not charge or accuse those in charge of Kherson of treason?

Why didn't Russia shell Kherson city with everyone in the streets cheering? Feels like a very Putin thing to do.
Any lingering Russian artillery would be within HIMARS range and the US would have been watching for anything like that from space.

Realistically, Russia doesn't stand a chance on the battlefield while US and NATO are providing advanced military and reconnaissance support.

Their only option is brutality.

I mean if their convoy didn’t achieve its goal back in February, what remains of their army now stands little chance in front of an increasingly trained and armed Ukraine.

That brings a tear to a grown mans eyes!
Thinking about what those guys have been through all those killed and lives ruined, Nothing would make up for that but to roll in to that sort of welcome must give them some comfort and feeling that the fight is worth it. Also can you imagine the relief of the locals!

I hope that Ukraine can hold this momentum. The issue this now brings though is that this kind of leaves only one viable line of advance, pushing down the eastern side of the Dnipro cutting the russian forces in half down to the Azov sea then pushing out west and east. A push for Melitopol would be the obvious next large aim.
