Would it be worth flying home earlier if some airlines are starting to cancel flights? Are you there on holiday or business?

I am just weighing up the irony of The Running Man becoming a refugee... ;)

Take care, what's the general feelings over there, are people expecting something will occur imminently?

Though he seems blasted out his face I'm not sure what is so difficult to understand about what he is saying? if China or Russia did suddenly take the "nuclear option" (not necessarily nuclear but a serious escalation) as unlikely as that might be is Joe Biden really the person you want as the fulcrum of any response to that?

If it gets to the stage of Russia or China launching nukes the POTUS has already failed and we're all dead.

As to the Ukraine question, if Putin decides he wants Ukraine and no amount of financial sanctions is going to put him off, he'll invade. The idea that Trump would put Putin in his place is laughable, he'd likely open the gate and let Putin roll his tanks in. Neither the US or NATO is going to war over Ukraine, which is a good thing as it means 10s if not hundreds of 1000s of soldiers and civilians aren't going to die in a war spread over Europe. However Putin should be stopped, Ukraine is a sovereign country, it doesn't belong to Russia. Bill Browder has the right idea and it might be the only thing that would stop Putin.

I'm here, club shop still open.

I'll be particularly upset if this does kick off. I visit Kiev couple of times a year - we do the Chernobyl trips (just as a tourist, not an organiser)

Was hoping to visit Odessa later in the year. Not sure if that will happen now.

A mate who lives in Kiev said things are more or less business as usual at the moment. His Fiance is a local so reluctant to leave I guess. Not sure how feasible it is to get her a ticket and just leave.

To get a visa for a ukrainian citizen to come to the UK can take weeks. Not sure they can just jump on a plane.

They can however fly into the EU easily.

What's kiev like for a visit? Key point: how much is a pint of beer?

I discussed a possible trip with a mate a few weeks back, but decided against.

It's alright a bit grey , cold

People seem okay. Pointing and using fingers in the air for quantity at the supermarket is passable.

Drinks are good. A steak meal for 2 with decent meat about 50 quid.

It's not a cheap cheap place but cheaper than UK.

Got the duct tape, plastic sheeting, iodine tablets and a table to hide under already sorted........................

If this escalates be interesting to see if anything happens with undersea cables.

I think a limited invasion is almost inevitable at this point. All the rhetoric from the west seems to be around imposing sanctions if he does, which is akin to saying "No, No, Bad Putin, In your bed!"

The west should not allow an invasion.

The fact is that Russia have been emboldened by a lack of real response to Crimea.
