How much does putin want?
How much of the west/Russia border does he want to bring back into Russias influence?
I certainly wouldn't want to be making the calls for the talks in this one.

Let them in and where does it stop.. Push too hard back and... Well. Who knows.

Could probably offer the UK 5p a unit leccy and we'd vote to join at this rate! :D

Estonia is in Nato it joined in 2004 which probably ****** off Russia back then but they seemed to allow it. Taking it back to the motherland would really , really **** of the US and more likely could be the catalyst on getting involved. So I highly doubt Russia would do this. Ukraine is a different story its a mess of country that has a crisis of identity and lets face it probably long since been corrupt for decades. Not by fault of the people but by corrupt politicians and successive governments. I don't think the west Nato will get involved on blue on red attacks period, we'll just sell/supply arms to Ukraine to make it very difficult for Russia to progress as fast as they would have have hoped if they did go for it and to possibly deter them further.
 
We should stop meddling in other countries affairs nothing to do with us. The US is the biggest trouble maker in the world:p

And when Russia invades, killing countless Ukrainian civilians in the process, people like you will be bleating and crying about how we, the West, did nothing to prevent it. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Well I guess if Russia invades Ukraine we should just launch all of our nukes against them and hope they don't return fire. I mean what else are we going to do realistically? Declare war on Russia and then what?

If you're not happy with cutting all ties with Russia in terms of sanctions as strong enough - next step is nuclear war. So lets just launch our strike first asap so at least maybe they won't have time to return fire.

All of you who are bleating that sanctions are not enough, what are you looking for I'm just curious. Declare war on Russia? Well then lets do it, just don't be surprised if you see mushroom clouds forming outside your window.

I mean the brain on some of these people. Clearly the wise decision would be to sanction them and hope for a collapse of their system like in 91. Who on earth declares war on largest Nuclear stockpile nation with an active nuclear triad over Ukraine?? Are you people insane or what.

All of it, he demands that NATO do nothing while he invades and installs puppet regimes in the entire soviet block - he wants the Soviet Union back

At this point the yanks will be fuming they spent so much on NATO and star wars deterrents.

It is a complicated situation - nuclear escalation is usually a consequence of direct existential threat i.e. invasion of the territory of a nuclear armed nation, or just a madman going rogue which is another matter. It is highly unlikely anyone is going to escalate to nukes over territorial disputes of a 3rd country even if Russia sees it as "should be part of the USSR".

Not sure what Russia would do if multiple nations stationed a few thousand troops defensively in Ukraine as it would force their hand to commit the first act against a foreign nation but it is a fine balance between defensive and Russia seeing it as a potential threat on their doorstep.

It's a complicated situation but it seems there are a lot of people saying 'letS dEClaRe WAR oN rUSSIA' for giggles and laughs. I mean even in this thread there is a whole circle jerk saying sanctions are not enough. Once again, what do you propose? Declaring war on Russia, I mean I guess whats worst can happen its all just a bit of call of duty.

I feel like people have become brain dead and instinct of survival is gone, its all just a fun giggle and a game for everyone.
