Seems weird to me - the geography of the UK makes it a relative fortress if we can control the skies - so not having decent long range systems seem inept and complacent.

Indeed. Just a couple of SAMP/T systems could give complete coverage for the UK, and combine that with some of the Army’s new Sky Sabre system with CAMM missiles, you’d have a really good layered defence. You’d just need to add something like a modernised Gepard or the buy the mission module with a 35mm Rheinmetall Skyranger gun system with programmable ammo for the Army’s new Boxer IFV’s to do short range air defence and anti-drone work.

Somewhat unconnected, I've decided to stop following Speak The Truth channel that is currently very heavily covering the UKR/RUS war. He is continuing to push the Established Titles scam, and hasn't addressed it at all, when it is extremely clear from comments that it is a scam. There is zero chance he doesn't know about this, yet has no issue taking the money.

I'll continue without him and just use reddit etc instead for news.

I've always found Rob a bit disconnected from his content, not quite sure how to explain it, and seems to spread himself thin jumping on projects he doesn't see through. From reading between the lines I think there is quite a bit more going on in the background family and mental health, etc. wise, etc. which he maybe isn't dealing with too well.

That's cool, I think they were also using roads etc.. and fortunately had moved a lot of aircraft out of harm's way at the start of the invasion. The massive printouts of damaged hangers is genius though! :D

It's a bit old now, but there were stories right at the start of the war of Russian cruise missiles hitting the sites of old military bases that were closed at the end of the Cold War. That's how outdated their intelligence was/is

He's not exactly hidden the fact that he has had mental health issues, he talked a lot about it in his earlier videos, He struggled a lot after leaving the military and I get the sense he goes through massive peaks and troughs, even to this day.
I used to really enjoy his stuff, mainly the fishing hunting stuff. However, I dont tend to follow his stuff too much anymore, mostly due to him putting a lot of his content behind a paywall a while back. I watched some of his UKR content earlier in the conflict, but his assessments on the conflict were a bit hit and miss I feel. Still watch the odd video from him but I dont make a habit of it.

I've dipped in and out of his content, I used to watch his earlier Lunkers stuff a lot more, so don't really know how much he has talked about stuff going on behind the scenes, etc. but I always got the sense he was going through massive peaks and troughs as you say and doesn't always approach some of these contentious matters in a very rational way.

An explosive package addressed to the Ukrainian ambassador in Madrid, Spain has exploded, injuring one security officer

I'm surprised sometimes how little the war has spilled over in this kind of regard so far, but also concerned as it is one way the situation could escalate uncontrollably by forces not necessarily directed from the top.

If those things were any good Russia would be using them to keep the pressure on the electrical grid. Like with most new weapons there effectiveness comes from the fact it's 'new' but after the initial shock the other side eventually works out a way to counter the weapon.

I suspect also the Iranians ripped Russia off, a bunch cheap drones for I believe proper combat aircraft?

Has supplies run out or saving them to use as decoys on the next missile attack?

Probably saving them to use as decoys.

In theory they should be easy to counter as drones go they are relatively large for their speed, make a lot of noise and so on.

A glorious sight! The fact that UKR are confident enough to have so many jets up, so close to the front, is very telling. A nation like Russia with the supposed anti air capabilities it claims it has and an air force it it claims it has still, 9 months into the conflict are in a worse position with control of the airspace than it was at the start...

The Russians haven't really got a great answer to the HAARM missiles the US provided. I suspect even the S300 would struggle to detect low flying aircraft before being in range of a HAARM which means if they sit there with their radar they're going to be at risk.

The embarrassing thing is that when used as it was supposed to be, properly backed up with TOR and BUK and all the relevant sub-systems the S300/S400 were "supposed" to be able to deal with AGM-88 HARM and similar Western Anti-Radiation capabilities.
I mean yeah its no real surprise, considering that all other Russian capability so far has proven to not live up to expectation. At least not in the hands of Russians...:p
