Ukraine tried sending another jury-rigged Tupolev turbojet drone to the Sevastopol Naval base but unfortunatly the Russians are super jumpy in Crimea so they had their systems switched on this time and shot it down. Hopefully they have a few more of these antiques to rig up and give them hell.

Let’s just say if you are a westerner who goes to Russia post-war going forward you don't deserve the bail out she just got as Russia has showed it's colours holding people hostage.

This was a bad trade to say the least as he will be responsible for more deaths in the future.

The US releases a Russian international weapons dealer who's nickname is 'Merchant of Death' for someone who was caught smuggling cannabis :o

I imagine that there's so much public fever built up around her release now that they had little choice but to make the exchange.

Incredible really. Fantastic news obviously but can't imagine it was an easy one for them to make stateside.

It was a gram of medically prescribed hash oil. Hardly "smuggling cannabis".

She arrived in Russia on February 17th, a week before the war began.

I doubt he will have much impact, tbh. He's been out of circulation for thirteen years, he'd have to rebuild everything from scratch and I suspect he'll be rather more in the mood to live a quiet life enjoying his no-doubt substantial remaining wealth.

I don't blame her as it was before the war but like I said; Anybody who goes to Russia after this could be held on any charge and be used as a political pawn and deserves the Gulag.

Who we trading for Marc Fogel?

Bet LeBron don't give a **** about him.

Oh and for those that don't know. She was traded for this guy.

He looks like Jesse Ventura a la Captain Freedom (Running Man).

I think the swap just about sums up the two camps. On the one side you have a career athlete who's basically innocent and was sent to a penal colony. On the other an international arms dealer convicted of supporting terrorists.

That guy was a teacher at diplomatic schools and had been travelling to countries for years, yet he took 20g of cannabis into Russia. Are these people idiots? Is it American arrogance that makes them think that because something is now legal in the US it means they can do it anywhere?

I'm sure he will get released in another exchange down the road and some scumbag will get sent home to Russia for an idiot who thought he could take 20g of weed into Russia. I actually feel a bit sorry for American administrations on this, they are damned if they do, damned if they don't with cases like this.

What stops Russia just planting the drugs on them and falsely charging anyone they wish to get whomever they want freed?

It's time to just say that Russia is a dangerous country and that anyone going there is going to be abandoned.

Yeah anyone travelling there atm must be mad. There is nothing to stop them arresting you if they think they can use you as a pawn at some point.

You've missed my point entirely, regardless of whether it's "prescribed hash oil" or cannabis it pales in comparison to the death and destruction that the person she's being swapped with has caused.

Well I'm sure the survivors of the families who have lost loved ones thanks his actions will sleep a lot better at night knowing he won't be able to rebuild his empire . He was the most wanted man in the world at one point, it doesn't seem right that someone so notorious only serves 13 years given all the chaos and death he's caused.

Well they don't go to the extent of saying you'll be abandoned (I don't think they can do this), but the foreign office do say that Russia is a dangerous country and that all travel there should be avoided.

Agreed.

Travelling to Russia at the moment is like putting your jimmy through the bars of a tiger's cage. It is a risk I wouldn't take.

A black lesbian sportswoman "tourist" is bound to usurp an international terrorist and arms dealer on a most wanted list in a hostage swap, with Biden at the helm. Anyway, her "wife" is apparently ecstatic at the news, so well played Mr. President... There'll be much sneering and laughter in the Kremlin, unsurprisingly.
