By 2025 they will increase the sales of gas to the east by 4x and start a construction of a new pipeline.

The cost of energy will be staggering for Europe by then. How many people will be in financial ruin in the UK by the end of this winter alone.

Like others have said, their currency is heavily manipulated it means nothing if its at an all time high.

So everyone role over for Vladimir, Ukraine gets absorbed into Russia, genocide of Ukrainians and its culture, Russia gets to control Ukraine grain and energy making for an even worse future when he decides he wants to withhold it or wants more of former territory. Yeah sounds great that future you are painting.
He wont say it xD.

Just make contrarian comments about how the west is having no effect on russia etc etc etc.

Pretty typical from these types.

Who cares how many in the UK die from cold or are financially ruined as long as we get to tell that naughty Pootin off /s......no, infact that needs a huge /S because sadly some folks will think I'm serious.

Crimea is a large area but only connected to the mainland by a narrow bottleneck where Russia have been making their defences ready for the best part of a decade. Worse, even if they can punch through that first bottleneck there's another a few dozen kms further in. Then, even if they can punch through the rest of Crimea, Russia has a large military base at Sevastapol making an ideal place to mount a rearguard action from. Meanwhile, Ukraine doesn't have the sea power to mount an amphibious assault, whilst Russia does have the sea power to keep weapons and soldiers flowing into the region even with its bridge connection severed.

It's difficult to see how Ukraine can take Crimea back at all, let alone as an early target.

Yes a head on only attack wouldn't make sense, the border is well defended but the Russians also have several defences lines behind it and a lot of bases, airfields and supplies on the peninsula.

Prior to an offensive, favourable conditions must be set. For example, completely severe the crimea bridge from mainland Russia so no new supplies over land can be brought in, then cut all the water supplies to crimea at nova khahovka and use sea drones, air drones and missiles to constantly attack Sevastapol's harbour. Do this for 3 months and then a frontal offensive will be possible

Cutting off the water and starving them out seems an unusual strategy to liberate your own conquered territory.

Unless... it IS all just about territory?

Anybody else read the review of the prospects for Crimea in todays Guardian? Including the comments by the US chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff?

Why Crimea is Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s greatest bargaining chip
Well the Russians could use all their logistical might to supply them with water can't they? They did it before.

Unfortunately for them that means clogging up the roads/railcars with things that aren't military related and so over time Russia's position in Crimea will disintegrate whilst it gets pummeled constantly without much hope of any actual reinforcement.

Well, it does seem odd to expect the Russians to take more care of the population of a territory you claim as your own, than you are prepared to do yourself. Almost as if, in the case of Crimea, the issue is control of territory, not liberating the population.

In fact the Russians did not supply water using railroad cars or any other way, significantly. As stated in the Guardian article, when the Ukraine cut off the water supply to Crimea after the 2014 occupation by damming Dnipro River, up to 80% of the agricultural land in crimea became untenable. Again, an odd approach towards a population you claim as your own and wish to liberate.
