They're already getting their armoured spearheads in order.Coming up on the anniversary of the invasion, 20th Feb. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a major push from Ukraine around that date.

Hope they will do well. They're already getting their armoured spearheads in order.
Does dozens of people falling out top floor windows not count as disappearing?Russia isn't at the level of surveillance, etc. of China, neither do people tend to disappear in the same way as can happen in China, though freedoms are increasingly disappearing.

Russia has never been a democracy. It pretended to be one for a little while. Is Russia still classed as a democracy? Chinas population seem to have it freer.

10 isn't that many and has lots of opportunity for Russia propaganda![]()
UK considering supplying Ukraine with Challenger 2 tanks to fight Russian forces
As many as 10 of the vehicles - enough to equip a squadron - could be on the table, with hopes it could prompt other allies to do the same.news.sky.com
Wonder what actually happened to the Challenger 1s, they were our gulf war tanks I believe
More than a match for the majority of the russian tanks being fielded

The Challenger I left service in 2001, I doubt we have them around in a condition worth sending.

Most of our old tanks were either entirely sold off i.e. to Jordan, or entirely scrapped.
I don't believe we have anything of any quantity sitting in storage aside from some Challenger 2s.
EDIT: Same with most of our stuff unfortunately - we have very little in the way of older stuff sitting in reserve.
Russia has some semblance of a democracy back in the early 90's after the collapse of Communism in the country. Infact at that point you could argue Russia was the most capitalistic country in the world and what developed was some odd hybrid of capitalism and anarchy. The last election that was close to honest was 1999 which Putin won on the back of him 'dealing' with rebel Chechens, after Putin got his grubby mits on power he's done everything he can to make he holds onto it for as long as possible. Once all his rivals had been dealt with and there was no more credible opposition (with the only real opposition that's allowed to exist being the remnants of the old Communist party which more often then not supports Putin's more egregious actions) he started chipping away at people's freedoms which started back in 2011/2012 when he made protesting all but imposable and has just got more and more repressive since to the point where you can get arrested for just criticising government policy. Is Russia still classed as a democracy? Chinas population seem to have it freer.
Nice to see some real British Beef going to Ukraine, such a shame it's only 10. That's hardly enough to defend a small town with but it would be good too them go up against the very army they were designed to fight even if its only a small batch.![]()

I don't know if I like that. Challenger 2's are something we have precious few of and upgrading even less to the new Challenger 3. Then there is the problem of supply as we really are the only ones that can supply the equipment and ammunition for the tanks to keep them going.Nice to see some real British Beef going to Ukraine, such a shame it's only 10. The Ukrainians already received some Spartan AFVs and are very happy with them. Fast and quiet compared to anything Russian, so ideal for the recognisance work they were designed for. We'll hope for Challengers and end up sending Scorpions![]()

I do think the leopard 2 tanks or Abrams would be a much better solution as more people can help with supplying the spares and ammunition.
