Unclear what is going on, doesn't seem to be part of regular rotation, but Russia substantially beefing up the air-defence systems around Moscow. Maybe due to some intended action, possibly they've got intel or think it likely Ukraine will get hold of longer range rockets/missiles/drones or have advanced development/manufacturing of their own, etc.

I hope they will and this will be interesting to see Russian air defence system in action.

As it's random maybe it's because it more likely that this is random event, rather than a deliberate action i.e random failures in missile guidance sections so they miss their intended target, random failures in rocket motors so they don't go as far and fall out the sky landing anywhere, random failures in Intel which targets the wrong building co-ordinates, random UA jamming of GLOSNASS/GPS which causes missile to go off target, UA shooting down a missile which crashes to earth afterwards etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Is that possibly more realistic rather than the current belief by many that every single Russian missile which hits an apartment/hospital/school etc is working 100% perfectly and therefore they are individually being pin-point targetted specifically at apartment blocks by some moustachio twirling "orcs" and that these missiles. once programmed by these cartoon villains never, ever miss.

We know how expensive and limited these missiles are and everyone, including Russia, knows that bombing civilians just doesn't work to change a military outcome on the ground. So why would the Russians deliberately waste a number of an already limited availability weapons to deliberately target an apartment block when they know if does nothing other than gain even more help for Ukraine, actively hurting Russia's military aims - does that sound like a "good idea" that Russian officers in a HQ somewhere would be high fiving after coming up with, or is it more likely something else, something less deliberate and more likely to be an "error" somewhere in the chain instead?

I know that doesn't feed into the current "RuZZia Bad, Poo-Tin, Evil Orcs" narrative that soooo many feed off in this thread but sometimes poop happens and, as in my top comment, it is always civilians who come off worst in war and it always will be that way, thats just life sadly.

You know fine well that Russia has indiscriminately targeted civilian's from day one.

They knew what they were doing, you knew what they were doing we all did so you can take you excuses and put them where the sun don't shine.

I'm not sure playing Top Trumps is ever a good idea, but... the germans murdered over ten million soviet civilians, and starved millions of Soviet POWs to death in barbed wire enclosures as matter of policy and budgeting.

Do we say Germans are born killers?

No, because time moves on.

I do want Russia to lose this war, and lose badly, as they have to learn and their leadership has to go.

What I won't do is accuse six year old Tosha in Kamchatka of being a "born killer".

Nothing worse than Russian sympathisers like IanH making excuses for the Russians killing civilian targets every single time.

Germans did horrible things in WW2 like Auschwitz but Russian had Katyn massacre and mutch more i know from my grandparents that Russians was 100% worst than Germans.

Sorry, but you've been misled, and badly.

Around 6 million Poles died during the german occupation. That's six million in six years- around a quarter of the pre war population.

If you don't believe me, that's up to you.

I come from Poland and I know history of WW2 not only from school but also from people who been under bouth occupation during the war and I am telling you Russian was far more sadistic soldier's.

How many Soviets did the Soviets kill?
 
What has actually got to me was the treatment of the 2 highest ranking Polish soldiers after WW2; they were abandoned by the UK, their adopted home after being banished from Poland. Major-General Stanislaw Sosabowski , commander of the Polish Brigade for Market Garden and Major-General Stanisław Maczek , Commander Polish land forces at the end of the war. He worked in a bar in Edinburgh as neither were pensioned off by the UK.

Another interesting thing was not allowing Poland to march in victory parade in London after war.
