How many Soviets did the Soviets kill?

Fewer people, and over a longer period.

2 million in the Gulag, maybe the same in various purges, 7 millionish in the famines. That's from memory, so I could be wrong.

Aside from the executions, most of those weren't strictly intentional, they were rank incompetence and bureaucratic stupidity. Dekulakisation was probably the direct cause of the famines, for example.

To be fair, those people aren't any less dead.

That's not correct. The most conservative estimates are 9.5m, not including those sacrificed unnecessarily in ww2. Highest 60m.

really good documentary series about the last 16 days of ww2

Can't see me watching that (prefer books!), but thanks for the recommendation.

Berlin by Antony Beevor is excellent, as is Armageddon by Max Hastings.

Anyway, I'm out for the night as I have derailed the thread hugely.

So I guess Russian hypersonic missiles do what they're supposed to do

Not even hypersonic

A Kh-22 was used, it flies at 80 thousand feet and Mach 4, it holds a 1 ton warhead that's meant meant to be used to destroy aircraft carriers not apartment building.

The Ukraine's don't have anti air system that can intercept that, they need the Patriot for that and they haven't arrived yet

$1 million dollars each....owch

Dnipro city took a battering today:

Nine dead, a 15 year old girl among them

64 wounded - 59 hospitalized.

Hundreds of people without homes. Immeasurable grief and suffering.
Hope I'm wrong but that might only be initial. Huge part of a large apartment block completely collapsed. Whether intentional, incompetence or they were just judged collateral makes little difference to the dead. It's happening every time and there's just zero excuse. Those in power in Russia need to be held accountable.

Might as well, we're well underway of the process of upgrading to the AH-64E spec, gonna take a hell of a lot of training for the UKR pilots though I'd suspect. Its hardly a mount up and roll out type of aircraft.

Dunno if true but people are saying on Reddit the decision to send Challenger 2s was made around 3 months ago but they waited until Ukrainians were trained on them to announce it so possibly similar for other hardware like helis.

You know fine well that Russia has indiscriminately targeted civilian's from day one.

They knew what they were doing, you knew what they were doing we all did so you can take you excuses and put them where the sun don't shine.

Rule Mo1 of a forum - read the persons posts first - then, when you spout made-up rubbish to suit a made-up narrative afterwards, you don't look stupid when they point out that they never once said the thing you've made-up.

So, to be clear, here's my post quoted (unedited as you can all check) for the those who like to make things up about made up things rather than read -

Rroff said:
There are many in Russia's command who still favour intimidation tactics and using them against civilians - though I largely agree that for the most part Russia is aiming cruise missiles and the likes against military and infrastructure targets but they certainly aren't against indiscriminate targetting of civilians.
Yeap I 100% agree with you there, but they also don't use their very limited selection of "advanced" weaponry to do that, they use arty, unguided 122/240/300mm rockets, mortars, tanks etc to do that, they leave their advanced missiles for things far behind friendly lines like power stations, military buildings etc rather than a block of flats which is just a waste of a missile "if deliberately targetted".

So thats my direct quote saying that Russia targets civilians and even how they do it..............................................I now await my apology Bris. Just be a man and admit fault, it's easy to do for a mature adult to do and I'll accept that apology (if you give one) with good grace too, because I'm an adult but I honestly aren't holding my breath TBH.
