Putin expected to announce 2nd mobilisation today. Hopefully NATO responds with more aid.

Hopefully Germany responds by authorising it’s tanks. I worry for Ukraine with another mobilisation, without sufficient arms Russia could cause a lot of pain. One tank isn’t much use against waves and waves of people.

U.S. Can Not Stand Alone Against Russia and China Together

I mean it could, quite easily, but it doesn’t need to.

Sky news:
How significant could a second Russian mobilisation be?

If, as we have been discussing (9.38 post), Vladimir Putin were to announce a second wave of mobilisation in the country it would be "very significant", director-general of the joint force development, Air Marshal Edward Stringer, has said.
As reports continue to emerge that Mr Putin may be looking to mobilise more troops, the military expert said the Kremlin was still in a position to "bludgeon" Ukraine into some sort of submission.
He told Sky News: "We must not be lulled into a false sense of security by the relatively poor performance of Russia's army to date and the poor performance of some of its more supposedly sophisticated weapons.
"Russia retains a latent but still very large capacity to generate a military economy.
"And if he were to mobilise the whole country of 140 million people and re-energise that defence industrial base, and some of the factories are already working 24/7, then he could provide his bigger army with the sort of firepower we saw in the Donbas.
"He could still grind out a war of attrition against Ukraine and bludgeon it into some sort of submission while we're still arguing about whether we're going to send 14 tanks or not.

Indeed, we will give them everything they need apart from tanks, planes and long range strike capabilities....
Just to think we gave the Iraqi and Afghani governments loads of modern hardware but as soon as the US left Iraq nearly got overrun by ISIS and Afghanistan collapsed faster then a blamanche. Just think of what Ukraine could do with that kind of hardware at it's disposal.

I was under the impression the certain parts of the US military wanted a slow drawn out war to weaken Russia as much as possible. Of course the cost is Ukraine stuck in the middle.

Putin:
- Russia's Goal Is To End Hostilities In Ukraine
- Russia Has Made Every Effort To Peacefully Resolve The Situation Around Donbass, But Due To The Deceitful Behaviour Of Its Partners, This Has Become Impossible
- Russia Wants To End The Donbass War That Has Been Going On Since 2014
- The Main Source Of Power In Kyiv Today Is A Coup
- Russia Is Documenting The Crimes Committed By The Kyiv Regime

I think their primary concern is still escalation and not wanting to completely back Russia into a corner.
Giving Ukraine enough to defend itself and bloody Russia in the (maybe vain) hope they eventually relent or the economic situation forces them to.
Russias military capability being slowly eroded is just a bonus.

I think the Bradley’s could be a bigger advantage for Ukraine than the tanks tbh. Dozen of those with artillery support will reck any Russian line they choose to hit. Especially at night. Mines will be an issue though.

Seems it was an EC225 that went down today.

Hateful things those choppers, but more importantly it's a sad loss of life.

The problem I now foresee is that if/once Russia mobilises further then there's going to be a fairly hefty proportion across demographics that will be a violent mess if they ever return to 'domestic' life and so I think the risk that Putin decides to keep going past Ukraine (hopefully not, but increasingly uncertain) is fairly high. Another issue is that if Ukraine folds then the West looks complicit/weak and the demoralisation it could feasibly incur may very well cost us far more than if we'd done more sooner.
