We should supply the arms, but we should also keep the end game in mind, and how we can control the situation should it threaten to develop in ways that aren’t in our interests.
Seems they are sending the better upgraded versions as well.
I personally don't see Ukraine pushing into Russia unless they've cleared out all of Ukraine territory and Russia still isn't admitting defeat.
That is highly likely imo. I can see the Russians engineering a situation where they provoke Ukraine into encroaching over the boarder. The closer they get the more the line is blurred. Arms depots, barracks etc just over the boarder posing a threat, free to launch attacks at will.
UK ‘not ruling out’ giving Ukraine missiles to reach Russia
Britain has "not ruled out" supplying Ukraine with missiles with sufficient range to destroy missile systems in Russia which may be targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.ukdefencejournal.org.uk
The war may fall apart though before then if they lose all territory within Ukraine, the support at home if they gained nothing (and in fact lost territory) would potentially be hitting fever pitch.
Abrams, Challengers and T-72s rolling into battle together for the first time in a few yearsWestern tanks rolling around Ukraine is going to be quite a site! Wonder if Putin will accelerate the Zerg rush to try and get ahead of this?
Plus the 2A4 is incapable of firing anything that can go though the front of a T-80 or T-90.I would hope so, the 2A4 was decimated in Syria due to poor armour protection and poor tactics.
Even then it would be a highly flawed idea tactically, the further south Ukraine moves the bulk of it's forces the more vulnerable to another assault from the north it becomes. Not exactly worth pushing into Russia and taking Rostov if you lose Kiev in the process.I personally don't see Ukraine pushing into Russia unless they've cleared out all of Ukraine territory and Russia still isn't admitting defeat.
The fact China and India both currently have more Soviet carriers at sea than Russia does would be funny, if India didn't also have more British carriers at sea than us until 2017 xDFunny thing aircraft carriers aren't that expensive to buy and any of them top 10 militaries could easily just go buy one. But the actual ability to use an aircraft carrier is a whole other ball game entirely, just ask Russia and China.
All I can do is put myself in their shoes. I am not exactly a fighting age man anymore. In fact I am mid 50s heading towards being an old man. But if this was any country, Russia or otherwise, invading my home UK then I would defend my homeland and family with any means possible, to my last drop of blood. I know many people nowadays don't think that way but it's probably because I was born of a different generation and mindset. It may not be in my best interest but it would be what I wanted.Right now their ability to fight depends on external supply, equipment and financing. So the decision is not in their hands.
And judging by how measured the support trickle is, the decision is to prolong the fight as much as possible. Doesn't seem to be in best interest of Ukraine people
Compared to Russia whose ability to fight is dependant on supply of Iranian/Korean weapons/equipment, Chinese money, and a steady supply of conscripts and convicts?Right now their ability to fight depends on external supply, equipment and financing. So the decision is not in their hands.
What a stupid post. Aircraft carriers aren’t expensive? How much does a single F35 lightning cost?Funny thing aircraft carriers aren't that expensive to buy and any of them top 10 militaries could easily just go buy one. But the actual ability to use an aircraft carrier is a whole other ball game entirely, just ask Russia and China.

Never mind running the thing. They are floating cities.
Ok point clarified then.Try reading again what I said. I said buying an aircraft carrier isn't that expensive, I didn't say anything about putting planes on it or maintaining it. That's why I said being able to make use of the thing is much more difficult and that's why Russia and China struggles
