2004 - Russia's actual next door neighbours Estonia and Latvia and Romania joined NATO.
You cannot deny NATO have not been expanding more and more East.

Well they can't go west, can they?

You're probably too young to remember what that slimy **** was up to with his old mucker Saddam. Oh yeah, wasn't he also kicked out of the Labour Party for calling for the murder of UK troops?

Certainly not, but I understand how you are so easily fed rubbish..

I urge you to watch this masterful oration as I have on Galloway going over to the U.S where the accusations were and him handing them their backsides.

I thought the US had wound down most of it's stuff in the run up to the withdrawl and there was hardly anything left, what was left was pretty much useless?
The reports are probably not referring (or not meaning to refer) to leftover US army kit, as it would be incompatible with Russian kit and nobody would be trained on it. They are more likely referring to the billions of dollars worth of ex-Soviet equipment/ammunition the US purchased for the Afghan army.

There was quite a lot of light armour and the likes left behind either US stuff parked up or supplied to the Afghan army which wouldn't take much training to utilise and stuff Russia seems short of. I'm not sure there is a lot for them to send to Russia though - the Taliban would want to keep a lot of better stuff to maintain the strength of their armed forces and as above rumours are a lot of the better stuff was given to their backers in Pakistan, etc. as repayments.

Amazing they left so much behind. Just as incredible that they took so much gear in the first place.
It was explained well in the film Lord of War, generally when the US leaves a warzone they leave most of their weapons/munitions behind as the logistical nightmare of getting it all back makes it more expensive than buying new stock.

This is all very familiar. Like my amnesia is having an encore.

I do wonder why they waste their time here, not like they are going to convince anyone, unless they get some kind of perverse thrill out of trolling on a subject like this without a care for the human misery that situation entails.

Maybe trying to derail the thread from "undesirable" topics but that doesn't exactly work either here.

Especially if it is a hot extraction where the progressively weaker perimeter makes it increasingly dangerous to spend time making stuff ready to and shipping it out.

American reach logistics are actually incredible in scale and organisation for all that.

Yes, Russia has been a badly run, corrupt dictatorship and lost the political and economic influence game over the old eastern bloc countries. So what?

If we talk in simple terms akin to the game civilization, Russia lost the cultural battle, and now (misguidely) have resorted to conquest.

Give us all a good laugh, or showing evidence for payment for pro-Russian social media posts :P

One or the other probably.

What exactly are you trying to prove here? Russia has no threat from 'the West'. It's what they wanted to make up. None of these countries these days have any interest in having a large conflict. Russia just wants to be the big boy. If they'd been smart, they would have woo'd Europe instead of being an aggressor. They had started to do that with gas etc, but then decided to go full special with Ukraine.

To clarify, NATO is a DEFENCE pact against Russia. The one's to deescalate tensions are the Russians themselves. These countries were always on 'Russia's door', it's just that now they had some bigger friends that will help them. That's what Russia doesn't like, because they can no longer do things like they did in Georgia.

Long story short: Russia still wants to be the biggest empire and will do anything to achieve it.

The stunning thing here is: Russia joined with Germany, and was only persuaded not too, with massive support from the USA. Gotta love how the TV show's and Putin at times, completely try to rewrite history lol.

ALso, by having this propaganda on TV and not said by 'the state', Putin can claim it wasn't from him. (even though, anything he doesn't like gets prosecuted for).
