Ukraine Invasion - Please do not post videos showing attacks/similar

Very little reporting actually; a lot of the comments are that Jordan keep the armed forces in a good condition, some argue better than UK kit.

Not something I know a lot about (I've actually spent more time digging for information on Russian tanks than our own) but whenever the conversation has come up or I've seen comments posted on Tweets/videos, some of which are by people with credentials, the general consensus seems they'd need quite a bit of work to be used in Ukraine.

Given they are looking to retire most of these tanks it is a shame if we can't re-acquire them and put them into a useable package for Ukraine.

I don't know if they can mobilise anymore than they are doing, They really are all in right now how much more can they do?

They are already facing a revolt with the current mobilisation, tens of thousands trying to get out the country.

I don't think ordinary Russians see this as a threat to Russia but want to avoid being sent to an innocent country to die.

As someone else mentioned there is the whole industrial side of mobilisation they are yet to do on any scale, they still have a man power pool in the millions despite a few 100 thousand fleeing the country. I think there is a dangerous misconception as well in that while the Russian armed forces have taken significant hits to the top (most experience/elite) and to the bottom (mobilised/conscripts, etc.) they've touched the middle much more lightly - they still have large and equipped forces assigned to areas like the Caucasus regions and so on and other areas of the military which have been less heavily tapped due to how paranoid Putin is but if Ukraine went medieval on targets in Russia then they'd have little choice but to switch gears.

I think its safe to say thats not going to happen. :(
The fact that we are still rolling about in Bulldogs ("Modernised" FV432's) in 2023 is rather embarrassing. My Bulldogs Hull was build in 67... granted it has been upgraded through the years but damn...

Ajax is coming along `nicely` as well.... if only the truth was actually known....

oh and for those who dont know, Ajax, an IFV is coming in a similar weight to a T72; brilliant choice that one.

I watched the hearing thing or whatever it was on the Ajax recently, did not inspire me with confidence whatsoever. Especially poor when other countries have managed to get the underlying platform into service without so many (if any) issues.

I still dunno why we are so allergic to utilising the CV-90 platform - tried and tested and well suited to the kind of adaptions specific to the way UK forces fight.

Granted it is a bit porky, and it has been a train wreck of project from the start, but the capability it can provide if it does eventually reach operational status is pretty impressive. I've been in and around them, and I've been in the training sims etc. They are actually an impressive bit of kit. Although I do wonder how it would hold up in real world use.
Good thing is though it has at least been given the go ahead to continue trials...

Scholz has said today that Germany will not transfer combat aircraft to Ukraine, as it fears an escalation of the conflict with Russia, >.>

A shame but somewhat understandable as unless they can find a way to counter Russia's SAMs and/or MiG-31s then the aerial stalemate will continue with or without western fighters.

and that answers my question how?
By providing the information that answers the question, that's how questions are normally answered :S

Almost as if someone ticked a wish list of addons then realised it wouldn`t work.

Why does procurement hate the CV90 so much :( - at least Boxer will arrive sort of on time and sort of on budget after the failure of Warrior upgrade. Maybe we should just go shopping in Korea ;)

I understand they can ramp up production but in reality can they?

Do they have the materials, they are relying on Iran right now for drones (or were ), apparently North Korea is suppling train loads every day and no doubt China has a back door and possibly even India is sneaking arms to them.

But their own production lines are they really working, its all good having the lines to produce but getting what they need to produce the quantity they need.

I know they have a missile capability just now but they are not firing near as many as they were.

Iran is probably out of the picture for now so they will lose the drones for a while at least, and will Iran even try and produce more knowing whats going to happen?

Personally I think their shipments are going to get much smaller for the time being at least.

Yes, let's keep the Iran stuff in the Iran thread please.

Will do, but there's no denying that the two conflicts are linked. One affects the other.

Hopefully, the supply of drones for the Russians dries up and weakens their bombardment and might give the Ukrains an upper hand. No doubt Putin is scrambling to see who else he can buy arms from

Well, they wanted the tanks so they will get them. Unfortunately, they are not running on thin air and a supply line neeeds to be established and that is more than bringing a tank to a front line. Hopefully, other come earlier than that.
Imho, there should be more heavy arms, but they don't want to escalate as dear Olaf says.... Rashka money paid for some years and probably still are it can be noted.
