Ironically it was technically the Russian's who "brought it to an end" as they shut off the supply long before the pipe got sabotaged. The US literally had nothing to gain by blowing up Nordstream.

Its actually better to bring the pipeline to an end with political pressure as the dead duck under the sea can be used as future leverage.
