I was listening to the radio at work on some chat show dunno what program it was wasnt my radio it was a plasterers let's say uk does get directly involved in a war with Russia they were saying we wouldn't last a week due to the lack of equipment and ammo we have in stock

It wouldn't be the UK against Russia though. It would be NATO against Russia...

Would Ukraine have done the same for anyone else... ? Highly doubtful. It's as corrupt as Russia and probably as fluid as a hooker with her friends and associations.

My god man can you just stop fighting the culture war for 5 minutes? You think people are supporting Ukraine over Russia because Russia is anti woke? You are off your rocker you really are. You and a handful of other posters on these forums are obsessed with culture wars.

In this thread we are interested in actual war, a war where Russia is attempting to wipe Ukraine off the map and unless it is stopped it will move on to the next country it wants back under its boot. Eventually we will have to stop it, just like we had to stop Nazi Germany.

I don't really think we would lose in a week; Russia doesn't really have the ability to project it's power across Europe and get to the UK, it doesn't have the sea power for that. Equally we don't have enough combat power to fight through Russia, we don't have enough Infantry or Armour for that and we certainly don't have enough ammunition.

I don't think the UK is unique though, most European armies have an army that is set for defence and isn't planning on going off on offensive war and it is expensive to maintain vast piles of ammunition and many missiles have a shelf life.

Previous campaigns have made the government used to the idea that we lose very few men and vehicles in war and I think this has lead to a force that has very little in reserve. I do think this is a mistake, restarting tank production isn't a simple thing, by the time the first new one was delivered, the war would be over.

you don't look at the news ? uk tendering for weapons factories in ukraine (good brexit opportunity recent meeting) meanwhile nato say we don't have enough army resources/weapons to lead a nato rapid response

Our armed forces have been run in to the ground by successive governments. You would expect that from a Labour government, perhaps, but the same is true of the Conservatives. They come up with all sorts of BS about spending 2% but we all know that they use "inventive" accounting to achieve that figure. The UK government includes war pensions and sickness, and things like that to make the % seem bigger than it really is.
The politicians are being typically short sighted idiots, risking the very freedom of the country itself. They deserve to be held account. We should see a lot more politicians in court being charged with deception or incompetence because, lets face it, everything they get involved with they make a mess of.
I mean UKraine wanting aircraft is almost hilarious. Hasn't anyone told them we don't have any? Jees. We even have an aircraft carrier that we had to rent to America because it has no planes!
