Russia has waged war at terrible cost to itself, sustained war at terrible cost, unlike some I'm under no delusion as to how long they can continue it, the potential for growing into this war if given time - but that has another edge to it - conceding Russia the Donbass won't end this situation, it might temporarily pause it, but it will only embolden Russia to push again, and likely better prepared next time.
 
And there we have an admission that nothing is being done to stop this war.
Ukraine is heel bent on the complete repel of russia from all lands.
Russia is unwilling to yield crimea and the donbass.
I do not have an alternative christ I am not running this war. I only care about my own ass that could get caught up in politicians idiotic ideas and damage my well being.
The probable solution is conceed the donbass. And step back.
West of the donbass Ukraine will probably join the EU and NATO.

Russia is poorly prepared and by all reports suffered huge loss. They will take years to rearm and resuppply. First the propaganda tells us they are failing. Now it tells us they could grow stronger!

Isn't Ukraine joining NATO supposedly one of Putin's red lines though? and NATO being on Russia's door step supposedly one of the basis for this war according to you?

And the West caring too much about its own ass being a large part of why Russia isn't really at that much threat from the West - despite some in the upper echelons of Russia's government having paranoia as to the West's intentions.

Depends how quickly they go to full mobilisation, if they do. With a full mobilisation of industry towards the war effort that massively decreases the amount of time it will take to ramp up production of military equipment, etc. people are far too used to seeing how things move at peace time pace and under peace time conditions, same with the economy and the realities in war time vs peace time.

Russia like China is a a nation and territory to invade and the west have nowhere near the numbers of boots on the ground to complete it

The war stops when Putin's army are ejected from Ukraine, there can be no lasting peace otherwise. The West definitely doesn't want this war but neither can it ignore Putin's criminal action.

Russia is a horse and Putin is the man riding it. He has total control over the direction it takes, digging his spurs into its bleeding flanks to drive it where he wants it to go. I don't blame the horse for this war but it needs to throw the rider off in order to survive.

I find it bizarre how people find a way to flip the blame here.

The west tried to stop this war before it even started. The attempts were ignored, and Russia invaded anyway.

The west also turned a blind eye to Russia annexing Crimea in 2014 only for this to happen a few years later.

No one wants this war but Russia, only they can end the war.

I am amused at a post that reflected Iraqis welcome the US invasion to free them from Saddam who had no weapons of mass destruction at all.
Which we knew because we supplied all his weapons for him to fight the Iran war that he failed so the US took his oil instead. Saddam was firmly with sunni. SO of course the Shiite would have been happy to support the invasion. However it never went too well.

Now we have politicians and some idiots working out we can probably take another war. That will be nuclear. Russia will most likely lose but we will still fail and not have the resource to police and overcome their region.
Hopefully unlikely as China is a huge problem as well and all western powers combined do not have enough people to police them and supress them.

Which is still my intrigue and wonder and why why why why? Are we not prepared to give Russia the Donbass which they mostly had already. And give them a win they can withdraw from.
But now we want to supply jets which pushes further that Russia is now in a defacto state of war with Nato suppliers.

Supplying NATO aircraft and tanks only pushes russia toward opening up to a war. So while you may say yes yes yes russia should back off retreat and say sorry. Really? You really think to the point of going to all out war or even nuclear confilct that is the correct idea?

Why not at the start of the war when Russia started this war?

Russia can end it today by leaving

Ah yes they've defended themselves against NATO by attacking a non NATO country making Sweden and Finland think - those nice Russian lads, aren't they playful, best not join a defence pack against them as they're such great neighbours.
