Never going to happen, NATO has too much invested in Ukraine to just fail, Ukraine failing means a defeat for NATO too.
We will double down on our efforts to keep Russia from winning, and threatening other countries on its border.
Don't think for one minute this is just about Ukraine, there are far more bigger concerns than just one country.

Trump does care about Putin so this muddies the waters and his devotees do as he commands, it make helping Ukraine much harder.
It's in everyone's interest for Russia to fail.
You as well as millions of Americans fail to understand how budgets work.
The USA has a massive military budget, its over 800 billion. The aid to Ukraine comes from that budget and its only about 3 or 4%.
Even if they didn't give Ukraine anything that money doesn't go to the people as some would like to think, the military would just absorb it so all this nonsense about the money being spent elsewhere is never going to happen.
If it doesn't go to Ukraine it gets fired on the ranges, a few new tanks etc, the military guard their money well, its spent they way they want not getting diverted to "the people".
It's scaremongering, trying to make the people think they are under serious threat when they are not.
Its just Putin propaganda trying to rally people to the front lines before NATO march through Moscow.

Baffles the mind that folk need this explaining to them. Like, do they think the US has just written a cheque to Zelensky to cash and spend as he pleases?
I imagine there is a bunch of double counting and selling bits at 'recommended retail price' too. It's funny money and a drop in the ocean for the US.

It's how they live thinking they have everything they need and to them it is everything they need.
I have no problem with that, some will laugh and mock but the Russian people are what they are and are generally happy in their ways.
They are not responsible for this war, that's on ones mans ego.

From what I understand, Russia is huge and a significant portion are in poverty (on Russian standards), but by our definition it'd be more like 50% in relative poverty (to our standards). It appears like a Western country when you look at Moscow, St Petersburg etc but it's much more similar to India (in fact it has worse poverty numbers than India).

That is true. As always there is a corrupt core (like Tony Blair and the "weapons of mass destruction"). Russia have the FSB and local administration enforcing the doctrine, we have the newspapers and administrators.
Like the russia first party which is the beating heart of this conflict, the rabid core of the tory party exists - frothing over ideals that are outdated and involve damaging their own country to attempt to deliver their ideals.
When there is nothing to keep them in check, then they only mechanism todo so is external pressure to prevent the expanding boundaries of control.
All the countries are guilty of this - attempting to subjugate and increase their power, influence and wealth.

Inside of major cities likely not for the most part. However you will likely see vast extremes from both sides of the spectrum in a City and everything inbetween. When you get to all the smaller towns and villages it wouldnt be a surprise if this was indeed the standard of living if not even better than the standard.
Going by what I've seen from Youtube travel bloggers who cover these regions looks pretty much par for course.
