Russia wouldnt use nuked

They would on their own soil.

Putin loves intimidation and threat. As long as it's on his own soil I don't think he would have any hesitation.

However, I don't think he would use one on Ukrainian soil. My guess is that the situation is very similar to the US telling Putin when Biden was going to Ukraine. It was certainly backed up with a threat of war. I would imagine there is a similar threat in place as a contingency against Putin using battlefield nuclear weapons in Ukraine. There is probably a promise of escalation to a level that Putin could not possibly win.

May 9th victory day parade cancelled
They have nothing to parade

Even their much loved T14 parade tanks are in Ukraine now.

It also requires large numbers of troops doing a fancy march along the streets, they cant do that on crutches so yea the parade had to be called off

Not in Red Square it doesn’t as it’s a very small space. The Russians have previous form for running ICBM launchers around the corner of the block and re-painting unit and vehicle numbers out of sight of the crowds to make it look like they had way more kit than they actually had.

The equation with nukes will very much be how much the use of puts Putin's arse is on the line - one of the reasons he seems to have backed off tactical use in Ukraine due to the US behind the scenes making it pretty clear how much the hammer would fall. If Putin himself was at threat and still had an operational nuclear capability people are fooling themselves if they think he wouldn't attempt to use one or depend on people in the chain of command frustrating it.

They also did it with aircraft - using the same flights coming back around in slightly different configuration to make it look like they had more of them.

Can they not fly one of them small drones through air vents and blow Putin up on the bog!

Or fly it into his mouth with a cyanide pill.

That's amazing hahaha

No President/Prime Minister wants to be the first one to start assassinating other heads of state as that’ll only escalate .
Depends how hated the head of state is, France never got any blowback for taking out Gaddafi as far as I recall.

Escalate to what though dont think Russia can afford to escalate they are barely keeping head above water in Ukraine they would end up like Hitler pushing to many fronts.

Denmark to give 100 L1 tanks to Ukraine.

Reddit says that's the same batch of tanks Denmark/Germany/Netherlands scraped up between them and was reported on some time ago.

I also learned that these Leopard 1's are probably not going to get the same tasks as the Challenger 2 or M1A1 or Leopard 2s.

From my brief browse the spec for the Leo1 armour was to resist 20mm shots(!) from all sides and it has the old 105mm British gun.

By comparison the half as fast and almost twice as heavy Challenger 2 was designed to be resistant to anti-tank weapons when hull down and has a 120mm gun to defeat what the 105mm couldn't.

If the terms still existed they would seem to be a medium and a heavy tank between them.
