R2816/R20816 another Black Hawk heading to Ukraine border to do more spec ops stuff I imagine

They must be reading the forums, they turned around :(

Either aborted or they went for a closer look at something, or something.

EDIT: There is an archaeological site there - maybe just sightseeing :s

Strange as I came here after looking at ADBS exchange and it looking very quiet with military activity compared to recent nights. I was expecting to see reports of the withdrawal occurring.

RRR9841 being escorted by Typhoon just off Israel.

Reverse of what they did earlier today - should be at least 2 maybe 3 Typhoons - wondering where they've been in the hours in-between. Very odd.

EDIT: Looks like they do this quite a bit from the flight history - always turn off transponders when they get near Syria though - looks like some kind of regular patrol in the region over 4-5 hours (after disappearing from ADSB/MLAT) before returning to base.

I think that site it missing a number of military planes. For example I don’t think FORTE11 showed up for me when it was up in the air. Or maybe the military plane filter is busted.

None of the sites ever quite have everything for some reason - though they do use a mix of data sources. Plus a lot of stuff military wise doesn't show up - there was a bunch of helis (call signs starting with MARTLT for most of them) over my house a few minutes ago only 3 showing generally in the region on flight radar.

Hundreds of US paratroopers landed at a Polish airport near the Ukrainian border as part of a deployment of several thousand to bolster NATO’s eastern flank amid tensions with Russia, Agence France-Presse reports.

Soldiers were seen disembarking from two Boeing C-17 military transport planes and boarding buses at Rzeszow Airport, located around 100 kilometres (62 miles) from the border with Ukraine.

Armoured cars, military trucks, containers and dozens more soldiers were seen at a makeshift camp set up opposite the airport terminal.

“We don’t know yet,” a sergeant manning a checkpoint into the camp, who declined to be named, told AFP when asked how long they might stay.

The US has said it is planning to temporarily deploy around 4,700 additional soldiers to EU and NATO member Poland, bringing the US military presence in the country to around 10,000 troops on rotation.

Just invite them into NATO and be done with it. Problem solved. Putin isn't marching in to a NATO member.
Problem is NATO membership isn't a simple case of "wanna join?" - "yup" - "Welcome to NATO". There's certain criteria/commitments for membership that have to be met/agreed. Ukraine and Georgia were invited in 2008, Georgia was invaded and curb stomped by Russia before they could build up the military/etc investment levels required for membership and Ukraine still hadn't got there when they abandoned their NATO aspirations in 2010.

Just for fun (there are a lot of other possibilities) but possible route they'd take if they were heading to it:

Not sure on the last bit as it hits wetlands and not sure if the spur there is fordable or how they'd go around to the bridge itself.

Can't be bothered trying to find live cams on the route to see if they pass through.

Photographed location of the convoy heading west 52.29015184744208, 30.427260636491248 supposed pontoon bridge at 51.5327, 29.86593

From looking at the arms sales Russia has done with other countries, it makes me think they have quite a bit of support around the world.

Their arms exports only account for about 2% of GDP, so it's pocket money in terms of their bottom line. But Putin obviously uses these sales as a strategic advantage, to sway the pendulum in his favour.

He may well have received assurances over Ukraine, or enough to know that sanctions would be ineffective against Russia.

In some ways their exports are a counterbalance to USA military dominance, but in others they just increase the tension around the world. They've supplied S-400 to Turkey jeopardising the F-35 programme. Supplied China and India who have had their own border tensions. Plus deals with Iran whilst signing a military cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia.

Of course there is China who probably would love to see Russia use their SAMs in earnest against Ukraine and any equipment bought from the west to see how they stack up.

They also have the S-500 coming online and the cost effective SU-75 in the works. Even in the scenario of sanctions after invading Ukraine, I think many countries will still be queuing up and it would be business as usual.

Apparent claims that Israel blocked supplying Iron dome to Ukraine:

I don't think there is any equipment bought from the West that they could be used against - unless you include Turkey as being Western as they supplied drones?

Don't know much about Iron Dome but I'd suspect they'd also be worried in that context of making it too easy for other parties to study it and find ways to defeat it.

Iran has previously used contacts in Ukraine to get information to help them develop their missile programs which has then been transferred to North Korea so I can see why Israel would be leery.

I think you're right, so far it there is the $200 million military package from the USA but that's just for anti-tank missiles. I guess USA wouldn't want to pit their heavy weapons against Russia even in a proxy war scenario. They've been doing everything they can to keep the F-35 away from the S-400, because of the stealth tech, but the same might apply to their other technologies.
