What will ATACMS bring that Storm Shadow doesnt bring to the table?
More options to fire on targets where the Anti Air threat is too hot for air launched capabilities. Also simply more supplies of long range fires capability, I dont know numbers of Stormshadow supplied however I wouldnt have thought it woul be in vast quantities..

There's 3000+ of them sitting in stockpiles/warehouses around the globe and the US can produce more ATACMS in a month than France and the UK can produce Storm Shadows in a year.
Sad thing is, if UK had ATACMS, very solid chance that Ukraine would already have them by now!
Feels like we have to initiate every round of escalation of equipment provision...

I think we would have been trying to give them to Ukraine but wouldn't be allowed. We were able to give them Storm Shadows because we built it. Same with the Challenger 2, which then made everyone else feel they could give modern tanks. With ATACMS being American, it would require them to agree, which has been the same problem with the F16s (countries with F16s wanted to give them but needed Biden's permission) and the same problem with the Leopard 2s with Germany not wanting to give permission.

This war has gone to show the benefit of building your own arms so you're actually allowed to do what you want with them and I'm not sure how concerned countries were with that before this war.

I think if you promise every Russian home a toilet bowl they will leave ukraine

People thought Russia wants ukraine to steal its water, mines, agriculture and resources but actually they just want the toilet bowls
Given that, what is it, a third of them? still have an outside toilet? It is a sign of respect!

Do we have any numbers from Ukraine? Are they saying the counter offensive is going well?

Ukraine are attacking dug in positions now so it's reasonable to expect they'd suffer more losses.
Zelensky kinda implied the counteroffensive has started but other then that Ukraine has been tighter then a Scotsman on an austerity drive when it comes to getting official confirmations on numbers or movements. In terms of success it's too early to tell, attacks have been small scale and along a very long front with some gains in some areas but these have been tactical success (Ukraine's general strategy seems to be prioritising taking back ground that offers them a tactical advantage over reclaiming settlements and towns, when Russia been on the offensive it's typically been the other way around) then any major breakthrough. As for losses nobody knowns, given Ukraine hasn't committed the bulk of it's new army to the offensive just yet would suggest casualties will ramp up significantly in the coming weeks and months.

Don't expect this to be over quick either, a cold war ready NATO army fell on the Iraqi army in Desert Storm with a month long campaign of air strikes before sending ground forces. Ukraine is trying to dislodge the Russian army with a tiny air-force that's out matched and is trying to replicate the same results using ground based artilitr, MLRS systems, tanks and ground troops.

Shame it is a Poseidon and not a B series bomber :s

Couple of other aircraft up there but not showing on ADS-B, etc.

EDIT: Ooof turned off its transponder within a very short distance of Russian air space - probably barely 100s of metres.

US might act unconcerned about Russia and nuclear posturing with regard to the positioning of weapons in Belarus, etc. but they've put a lot of effort over the last few days tracking Russian submarines (and probably ships).

I reckon the crew of that Poseidon heading straight towards Murmansk were all giving it the "pew pew pew" as they simulated releasing weapons.

The African delegation is accusing Poland of racism, after Poland tried to remove unregistered weapons from their plane. The African delegation plane had about 100 armed security guards who were not declared prior to arrival and Poland also found the plane was carrying 12 containers full of weapons

Why would they need 12 containers of weapons?

The next destination for the African delegation is Moscow..

As soon as I saw Cyril Ramaphosa's name pop up in conjunction with the war I knew he'd be up to something. There is absolutely zero chance he'd be there without some form of corruption going on.

To give this some context, you'd have a higher chance of solving the quantum computing dilemma, fusion, time travel and curing cancer and HIV at the same time, whilst blindfolded, than him not having some shady motive for attending.

Him and the rest of the ANC are all bent as hell, perfect match for Putin.

New MoD report is not good reading, saying basically that russian attack helicopters are causing havoc and Ukraine has no answer at the minute.

Sounds like the plot of a reverse The Wild Geese
