Say hello to Cope Rocks

The ingenuity of the Russian mind never ceases to amaze, they are constantly just one step ahead of us

As absolutely ridiculous as it looks, assuming this is actually genuine. Its not without merit, there is precedence for this type of improvised armour in previous wars. I dont know how effective this would be in practice though with modern munitions. However, even if it isnt effective, if it provides a psychological benefit to the operators of the tank... Well its not a stupid as it looks.

Wouldn't that shatter and kill any soldier nearby?

If you're standing that close to a tank when it gets hit, you're probably dead anyway.

It's should be better armour than not having it, but this is Russia - they're pretending to be a global power and they're bringing this third world ****?

Is this a thread about WW2 and its social and political repercussions, or the current crisis in Ukraine.
The two topics have multiple similarities and direct links so there will always be discussion of that (just like there has been for the past nine years of this thread), it's the same way a thread about Pepsi would have to involve discussion of CocaCola and the UK's sugar tax, two none Pepsi things that are relevant to the discussion.

This is straight up to strapping a log to your tank :D (which was common practice in WW2).

*EDIT*

Considering which army is involved here we can't rule out the possibility they're using asbestos rocks to protect against HEAT rounds...

Not as stupid as it looks, might even work against RPGs, but tank shells, etc. will go through like it wasn't even there - I can't remember who it was but a YouTuber did a test at Drive Tanks TX and even the 76mm guns were penetrating similar kind of obstacles with enough power to compromise armour plate behind never mind the big guns.

Theres a guy i went to school with whos had is passport seized by the MOD(police) as he snook off to ukraine to drive people in/out opf the country, so if he trys to sneak out again and come back he'll get arrested lmao

Why would he get arrested for humanitarian action? I know a few people who are and were doing evac under fire of civilians.

Yeah it sounds funny, if he is not fighting in ukraine i don't understand why he would be arrested by any western government- there must be some additional information we don't know

Its not currently available but this is a really good watch for non hardcore history buffs when it is occasionally available

It's here for anyone wanting to watch. 1 of the best documentary series I've ever watched
