Ultimately the main thing in this respect Putin cares about is his domestic image - the media will probably play up how Putin "cleverly" "resolved" or defused the situation then find a way to fill the air waves with noise, maybe manufacture a distraction (possibly something intended also to send a message to the rest of the world) and in 2 weeks most people will have forgotten. But I doubt Putin will just let it lie.

Just goes to show what we think is going on in Russia isn’t close to the reality of what’s going on in Russia.
I do wonder if the Russian government really knows what’s going on either!

Another coup attempt or revolt. Given Wagner failed, it doesn't seem like an attractive proposition for anyone else.
Wagner is finished. It's PMCs are being absorbed by the defence ministry.

Assuming this was genuine then this agreement is irrelevant, as if there's going to be zero punishment for almost toppling the system and chickening out at the last moment...

He was expecting a more general uprising. Which never happened.
That is partly why Russia started implementing martial law in preparation.

I wonder what happens to all the Wagner mercs. and operations in Africa now? Will
Very strange. Initially I thought this was to be a victory for Prigozhin and he was going to be given more power while Shoigu would be sacked, but now it looks like a complete defeat. What was the point in doing it if he didn't get anything out of it?
Why didn't he go through with it? Is 25K battle hardened men not enough? I thought that most of what remains of the Russian army was busy in Ukraine.
