This would have been operation unthinkable.
But with the sheer number of bodies the soviets could have chucked infront of the firing line, we would never have won.
This was before "Unthinkable" during the last few months of what was WW2; Churchill, Montgomery and Patton wanted to get to Berlin before the Soviets did from the East in an effort to get there first.
I agree on "Unthinkable" there's no danger we could have dislodged them once they were there.
