Border between Russia and Ukraine is still open - especially going inside Russia. It can be done, if they find someone crazy enough.

What would the border have to do with “nuking Moscow” which was the original posters claim. Are you suggesting they could just drive in with one and detonate it?

If you’re talking about a smaller scale chemical attack then maybe. However, the nuke Moscow stuff is completely laughable.

Yes, driving in and setting something off. I did not claim nuking.

On a more serious note, will be interest to see what happens to domestic air travel and overflight restrictions.

Russia domestic banned from flying over all NATO countries and Russia banning us in return? That will be very messy long term.

A lot of flights go through Russia, it would just be a little more expensive to avoid Russia. Not big deal for us.

You keep laughing but is it really hard to believe that Ukraine has some Chem Weapons from USSR days somewhere hidden? They are more than capable of creating a dirty nuke bomb, they have nuclear uranium enriching reactors in operation as far as I'm aware.

So Ukraine loses territory in the East, that's bad, they retaliate with their dirty bomb, then what? Well you didn't think that far ahead clearly because Ukraine now no longer exists as an inhabitable country. Russia uses nuclear weapons and glasses Ukraine, so probably Ukraine losing territory to the East was and is the preferable outcome.

Zelenskiy just said that he's going to call Budapest Memorandum meeting. If he receives no response, he will consider it null and void and hinted - that this means that Ukraine will pursue creation of Nuclear weapons.

Ukraine may question Budapest Memorandum commitments - Zelensky in Munich
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky initiated consultations within the framework of the Budapest Memorandum, however, if they do not take place or specific decisions are not made on the basis of security guarantees for Ukraine, then Kiev may question the obligations of the guarantor countries.

"I, as president, for the first time initiate consultations within the framework of the Budapest Memorandum. Ukraine is doing this for the fourth time. But both Ukraine and I are doing this for the last time," he said on Saturday, speaking at the Munich Security Conference, reports Censor.NET from a reference to Interfax-Ukraine. Surely Ukraine could get hold of nukes, or chemical weapons, etc. Lob it all at Moscow and say "that's what you get..". Facing an existential threat, who wouldn't do that?

Sure and I bet when they built the sarcophagus over Chernobyl they did it because they secretly built it into a massive mecha robot that will come defend Ukraine in her desperate time of need

In all probability they most likely have some stored away in the corner of a depo that they don't even know about due to incomplete records, late USSR and early post USSR inventory's are comically erroneous, to the point that in the fall of the USSR over $30 billion worth of weapons/tanks/etc disappeared from Ukraine alone.

And of course there's always the chance there's some tactical nukes still knocking around they don't (or maybe do) know about, Ukraine was once the third biggest nuclear power on the planet and as with the conventional/chemical weapons they're not all accounted for.

I very much doubt Russia would nuke Ukraine even in response to a dirty bomb attack in Russia. Nuking Ukraine was a defensive plan (one of many) they had in the event of a full scale NATO invasion of the USSR but was seen as a last resort due to the proximity (it would be like England nuking Wales to stop an Irish invasion) and resulting danger to Russia and Belarus.

Was looking at ADSB Exchange over Ukraine yesterday and there was an Aeroflot flight from Moscow to Kiev in the air. Things can’t be that bad, but Lufthansa have cancelled all flights to Ukraine. Wonder if German intelligence have passed something on?

Zelensky needs to wake up if he thinks Russia will just allow them to develop Nuclear weapons. Where are you going to develop them, under what measure of security? Ukraine right now has no security, the country could be taken in matter of days in its current situation. It's obviously a threat, but a very unwise one to make.

If I was Putin, I'd be rushing this to the news network 24/7. I don't know if Zelenskiy is a moron or a Russian agent at this point.

They are handing him pre-texts for invasion at this point.

However, from what I'm seeing in Ukranian media such as censor.net with translator - is that comments are cheering this. Saying that this is a very smart idea.

Interesting move.

It is estimated that Japan could build nuclear weapons within 6-12 months if it wanted to. Can't imagine Ukraine has the capital or technical ability to so within 5 years. Especially against a backdrop of opposition that will surely come of it.

It is an absolutely dumb move. So much so that none western media are reporting this. Because we don't know what to do with this clown.

With latest development of Zelenskiy saying he might develop nuclear weapons. I once again, say that if Putin attacks - he is a total and complete moron. All he has to do, is continue upping the pressure without invasion. Ukraine/West will literally hand him victory on a platter at this rate.

We've already pulled out of Budapest Memorandum when we said we wont fight Russians. Now if Zelenskiy follows through with declaration that he's going to develop Nuclear Weapons. No one in the west even put sanctions on Russia in case of a war. Russians could begin with surgical strikes like Israel does on Iran and then follow through with total invasion.
