When we kicked Iraq out of Kuwait, we used "overwhelming force". The Ukrainian military doesn't have the ability to use overwhelming force because we have drip-fed our support. We may have good reasons for not giving them everything up front, and we may not, but Ukraine has not been in a position to apply overwhelming force in this war.

NATO said to provide training with air superiority then give Ukraine mainly AR and a few rotten tanks that otherwise would have been written off.
Politicians are more worried for RF not to collapse rather than get a plan when it does.
US is playing a game of throwing breadcrumbs to bleed ruzzkies as much as possible. Unfortunately, they bleed them with Ukrainian heroes defending their land. Also idiots like elon are given a voice...

At the time the US military was heavily criticised in the western media for burying trench defenders alive to save time, some even classed it as a war crime. It's highly unlikely Ukraine would do similar given how dependant on western opinion they are.

Uuuh... there are videos of Ukraine doing precisely that (battle for T-Shape for example).

Bit of a deceptive interpretation in the twitter title. Makes it sound like our troops will be actively engaged in the war.

I doubt Royal Navy ships would enter the Black Sea (would Turkey even allow that?), so more likely defending commercial shipping when they reach the Med or Atlantic.

And conducting the training we're currently doing outside Ukraine inside of it (likely much easier for logistics).

Interesting... I mean its not that much of an escalation. That said It could very well put our troops in the firing line though and potentially create a rather spicy international incident. I genuinely dont think Putin would be stupid enough to purposely target British forces, he'll huff and puff but I dont think it will make much difference, however Russia have shown time and time again that they are not particularly great at precision strikes.

Not sure on RN ships being in the Black Sea, I can see a lot of potential for serious risk, between Russia no doubt playing silly ******* and likely harassing the ships and naval mines.

Medvedev saying Russia is going to need to annex more of Ukraine :s

Dunno how widespread it is but reading a couple of accounts from Russian companies moved to the frontlines, very similar and not new stories - only the officers have any quantity of ammo - the men either have none or like 1/3rd of a magazine each, their allocation of ammo either never turns up or they found out was dumped at the wrong village 10km away, half the heavier weapons are rusted out, in one case facing off against tanks with nothing more than AKs and a dozen grenades - I'm not quite sure on the numbers as the company size keeps changing between 100 and 25 and survivors between 1 and 5 - I think maybe they attacked in groups of 25 out of a total of 100 and only 1-5 men were surviving from each group of 25. EDIT: What I'm not sure on how much is truth, propaganda or maybe excuses for failing.

The first EU/NATO country that is turning it's back on Ukraine?

They "won" with 24% of the vote, so its going to need a coalition of several parties to form a government. There'll be a lot of haggling on all sorts of policies involved so it could take a while - I think it was Belgium took 2 years once !

Slovakia has been very generous already (such as their entire MiG fleet!) so how much is left to give.

Yeah there is a bit of that, in fact the related BBC article does quote someone in the West as saying the Slovakian cupboard is bare anyway in terms of military equipment.

But they also highlight a survey that says a only 40% of Slovaks believed Russia was responsible for the war in Ukraine. Whereas 50% saw the United States as a security threat.

I do feel quite bad for many of the Russians as while there are quite a few war crime loving monsters amongst them (shocking that would happen if you allow convicted murderers, rapists, mafiosos and child killers to volunteer in exchange for a pardon, not) most of them are just poor people who don't even want to be there or even care about their governments agenda (Kind of like Vietnam in a way).

The Russian army has been raping, torturing, killing and looting from day 1.

It's very much part of the Russian doctrine to do these things in order to terrorise the population and stop any sort of resistance against occupation.

I'm WW2 there are stories off Russian officers that would literally have their men wait in a line and at gun point have each of them take turns at raping a German women.

That’s because they are animals, and should be treated as such.
