What's even more fascinating is that he thought that the invasion wasn't going to happen.

Who cares?

I have very little time for people that think the West is more to blame than Russia for invading a country.

Blame is a really childish mindset, Putin was ultimately responsible for the invasion, but we were just naive and stupid to ignore the reality of what would happen. Hopefully Trump gets into office next year and ends this dumb conflict and everyone can move on.

Says the man who blames wokists for the collapse of Twitters revenue stream and share price.

So you do blame Putin.
Childish is being frivolously argumentative.

How, by rewarding Putin with favourable terms, territory, and resources as spoils of conquest. Not to mention hamstringing Ukraine leaving it on its own and vulnerable to Russian advances in the future (military or political).

Lets set aside Trumps motivations for a moment and assume he's an honest actor. As soon as Trump tries, Putin knows he's won, the other side has capitulated, and he doesn't have to agree to anything he doesn't want to. He will simply keep his meat grinder churning - as that was his plan anyway.

Putins plan was to take Kyiv and depose the Western/NATO aligned government, this war wasn't his plan. Ukraine and Russia would've already negotiated an end to the war if Britain and the US hadn't of intervened early on, this continued fighting is ridiculous and no one is winning. infact everyone is currently losing this war including the West. The only people who are perhaps winning is China since it's weakened Western economies. Putin isn't even a concern for the West, Russia hasn't been a threat to us for 30 years, our main threat is China. If Russia invaded NATO we'd beat them in 3 days after we'd all stopped laughing.

Even if that happens, which I doubt as Russia has never shown any signs they want to discontinue offensive operations. Russia could stop the war this evening if they wanted to. It will simply let Russia pause, re-arm and return at a more favourable time for them.

Wait, did he want Kyiv or not ? A couple of months ago, he was winning because Russia was holding all the land he REALLY wanted, and the Ukrainians should give up trying to take it back.

That was the goal initially; he is currently holding 4 Oblasts in Ukraine, he could be considered to be "winning" for that reason since he has captured large parts of Ukraine - in reality though we are all losing. Russians are dying, Ukrainians are dying, we are all poorer and less prosperous than we would have been.

They couldn't because in their eyes they have legitimate security concerns from NATO expansion. It doesn't matter that we think they aren't valid and that we say NATO is a defensive alliance. Russia has been invaded countless times, they aren't an island nation like the UK, they don't have Oceans between them and their adversaries like the US, NATO expansion is in their eyes a legitimate threat to their state in the same way that them putting missiles in Cuba was a red line for the US. I don't know why people can't grasp this.

You try too hard. It's pretty damn boring now.

Three major invasions in the last 1000 years. Invaded its neighbours far more times in that period.

Russia is not the victim here, I know you wish it so hard to be true but it isn't.

Yes but Putin doesn't care how many times Russia has invaded other countries, as the leader of Russia if he has security concerns he isn't weighing up how many times Russia has invaded other people lol. Why are you even mentioning that?

You mentioned Russia being invaded not me

I just clarified your "numerous times" as being 3 in the last millennium.

Understanding a situation ≠ agreeing with it happening. Even a child can understand that simple idea I would've thought, turns out I'd be wrong apparently.
