Well, things are not looking particularly rosy for Ukraine. It's easy to play hardball with Russia when it's not your citizens on the line.

With the US and Germany apparently now beginning to push Ukraine to negotiate, they're going to have to put some trust in Putin anyway.

Why.... didn't realise Russia were about to steamroller Ukraine, care to share thier successful assaults.

Jog on vatnik.

The wages are lower but so is the cost of living - about 50% of the UK costs: https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/country_result.jsp?country=Russia
It's not as simple as that. Look at the prices they are quoting and take milk as an example, 1lt of milk is roughly $1 or £0.80. Yes it's cheaper then here in the UK but for a Russian on an average salary of £630 a month so buying 1lt of milk is the equivalent of spending 0.12% of someone's monthly salary. The equivalent for a Brit earning average wages buying milk is 0.00014%. Put it another way if people in the UK had to pay Russian prices for milk we would be paying £5.55 for 2 pints.

Damn, if this summary is to be believed, could have ended the war pretty neatly but the warmongers, Boris included, wanted to put their foot on Russia's throat, whatever the cost to Ukraine

What a load of crap. Eastern European countries have for the most part been suspicious of NATO even after the collapse of the Soviet Union and communism. It was only when Russia went around committing war crimes in Chechnya and destroying Grozny, stealing land in Georgia and Ukraine ex eastern block countries started applying for NATO membership. If Putin's goal was to stop NATO expansion then he's actions have had the complete opposite effect.

If Putin is really worried about NATO coming for Russia, why has he emptied his soldiers and equipment out of the Finish border and Kaliningrad?

Because it's not about NATO. It's simple greed, ego and wanting to leave his mark and leave a legacy.

And he's certainly done that by wrecking his country and making it China's bitch.

Russia just wanted Ukraine to let its guard down - if you look at the full details and Putin's demands it was basically wanting them to leave themselves vulnerable while saying "trust me" after proving he couldn't be trusted. Only a mug falls for that.

He will quite simply go down as one of the worst "leaders" in history.

And I think he knows it.

Thing is - if NATO was a threat to Russia, it isn't like it needs to build up a presence in Ukraine - NATO's logistic backbone means it can deploy a considerable force half-way around the globe in a matter of hours.

So if Putin is that concerned about NATO in a Ukraine context he might as well start launching the nukes now...

Imagine thinking anyone gave a **** about what Boris had to say... the guy flunked out of the foreign office in record time.

Ukraine fights because it has no choice if it ever wants any sort of actual independence from Moscow.

Sorry but that is absolute nonsense. Ukraine was joining NATO in 2014 was it? What actually happened was the Ukrainian people kicked out a politician who was in Putin's pocket and so his response was to invade and seize big chucks of Ukraine including Crimea. Then in 2022 when he felt the West wouldn't respond he tried to take the whole country but he miscalculated. That is pure vatnik propaganda.

Seems like Russia are going after the power supplies again: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-67529571 16K homes in central Kyiv without power this morning. 75 drones in the attack and 74 shot down according to UA.

Lets see what Ukraine do in response - there was talk of doing the same back to Russia. I'd like to see its more than just talk.

It was widely suspected that Russia was stockpiling in order to attack the Ukrainian grid when winter hit.

Hopefully, Ukraine will be better prepared this winter- using last year's experience.

"Accidentally" fire some ATACMS and Storm Shadows into Russian power plants hopefully.

Do we know the max amount of Drones/Missiles shot down in one night, I am wondering if Ukraine is getting better at shooting them out the sky.

It has went a bit quite on the ATACMS/Storm Shadows front. Either they have ran out of missiles or ran out of targets.

If Russia would be so kind to park a ship with in range we could find out. ;)
