Russia has passed a new law making any promotion of LGBTQ a terrorist offence, punishable by up to 20 years in jail

Truthfully a leader of the world, or so Putin claims

Can't help but feel there's a quite sinister element to this.

Like: "oh we wanted to eliminate our LGBT population for years, but we couldn't just load them into ovens like some Nazis, so we sent them to prison where they were then sent to war where the Ukrainian Nazi's eradicated them all, but nothing to do with us" >.>

Russia advancing on Avdiivka and there dost seem to be any multi million $ contracts like there used to be going to Ukraine :(

Europe doing what Europe does best.
Very little, despite this being on its doorstep..can't even produce the shells it promised.

US, funds are still stuck ?

Europe isn't great in a crisis. It's why we always beat them.

Anyway. I think Russia will start to really crumble after Putin's re-"election". A lot of things are being held off for now.

I think his war is being used as a way to get rid of anyone who could rise up against him (fighting age men).

Some perspective is need to be here. Just last year Russia was expected to waltz through Northern Ukraine and take it's capital in a few days and for all this to be done and dusted within a week. As it turned out the worlds 2nd best army had to re-evaluate it's ambitions and has gone from major cities like Kyiv to regional towns like Avdiivka which it's struggling to take after months of fighting.

From a whole country to an epic struggle for one village :D

Ukraine will pull back to their next line and it will start again. They will repeat that until Russia runs out of troops. They are dug in so it's a one sided fight.

Well it is not on the door step of Germany or France. They have their buffer zones such East Europe of Poland, Ukraine...

The war is going very bad for Ukraine right now. Europe and US have decreased the deliveries of artillery ammunition and so there's no chance of any Ukrainian advances. For the first time since April 2022 Russians have an opportunity to go on a big offensive - looks like they will be able to take Avdiivka (with a lot of losses), and there are no proper Ukrainian defense lines behind it. The president elections in Russia will be held in mid-March, very likely there will be a new mobilization after that. If they manage to press and equip say half a million new soldiers, during the whole year Ukraine will have to stay in defense.

Hopefully a new Russian mobilization will at least force US and Germany to supply Ukraine with long range ATACMS and Taurus missiles.

They've been trying that since October. The fields are littered with their corpses as a result.

To quote War of the Worlds - "But still they come" - they can, and will continue to, absorb casualties at a scale that'd destroy most Western nations armies and every 6 months or so they'll just draft another 500k or so to be added into the meat grinder. A very apt phase when when dealing with the Russian military was "Quantity has a quality all of its own" meaning their military may not be the best equipped, led or trained, but their sheer numbers can make all the difference over an opposing force with far better equipment, training, leadership etc.

Couldn't absorb anything in Afghanistan.
