The war is going very bad for Ukraine right now. Europe and US have decreased the deliveries of artillery ammunition and so there's no chance of any Ukrainian advances. For the first time since April 2022 Russians have an opportunity to go on a big offensive - looks like they will be able to take Avdiivka (with a lot of losses), and there are no proper Ukrainian defense lines behind it. The president elections in Russia will be held in mid-March, very likely there will be a new mobilization after that. If they manage to press and equip say half a million new soldiers, during the whole year Ukraine will have to stay in defense.

Hopefully a new Russian mobilization will at least force US and Germany to supply Ukraine with long range ATACMS and Taurus missiles.

The weather really means not much movement..

Couldn't absorb anything in Afghanistan.

But they have been doing it for the past 2 years, and they're still doing it today, and they'll be doing it again tomorrow and the day after, all of which is far more relevant right now than talking about a conflict in which just 15k Russians died over the space of a whole decade, and therefore obviously bares absolutely no relevance to Russia's fight right now.

I’m not sure Russia can sustain these losses on what is a nonsensical war based on lies. Once Vladolf starts eating into the youth of the Russian middle classes it becomes a political nightmare.

I'm not disagreeing with you there, but every few months since the invasion started people have been saying "Russian loses are unsustainable" and yet every month Russia loses more and more without stopping. They've got a whole lot of cannon fodder to get through before the middle class kids get dragged in and that could take another 3-5-7-10 years, time which Ukraine really doesn't have looking at its own estimated loss rates.

Well it’s questionable if Russia can maintain this level loss. Circa 75k to take and defend Bakumutt. Looks like 35k+ so far for the advance on Avdiivka. Thats a hell of a cost for the Russian people to own two small piles of rubble requiring completely rebuilding.

By the time Russians have paid the price for Putler to achieve his dreams, the price will be in the 10’s of millions of Russian lives.

Insane losses, and the Russian public just lap it up.

Only upto a point. Once the MIA troops are accounted for and those that have sustained horrendous injuries return, Vladolf and his administration will be under pressure. Vladolf can’t hide the deaths of troops and hide those left unserviceable and maimed by war in camps forever.

Airport Pulkovo kas been moved to a new holding by the president of the world - Voldemort. German company Fraport tried to sell it's share, but was not allowed. Now they will have **** all. Nothing personal just business.

Great advert for Russia.

He can when they come from poor areas with zero voices and now the gay community has been added to the cannon fodder list, I assume those who the authorities don't like will be labeled gay and shipped out with the poor and prisoners.

They live miles away from Moscow and st Petersburg, with little communication or travel options, easy to put down if they do attempt to stir up revolt.

Let's also not mistake to think that the Russians have western values towards life, mother Russia and past 'glories' count for more.

He still has more to use up as well, another 150k+ on its way to the meat grinder.

West had better wake up asap, our let's drag it out and Putin will lose interest/let's not upset him send cast offs game is destined to fail.

I, and a few other posters, have been saying for some time that applying our mindset to Russia is a mistake. They are pretty much, "the man with nothing to lose" at this point, and are behaving accordingly.

If the US (republican party) and Europe doesn't increase assistance immediately, and be very clear more is on the way, it will only encourage Russia to persist in its madness.

If the world lessens its support for Ukraine this war will drag out for decades and I think eventually the Ukrainians will have no other choice but to attack/invade Russia in a similar fashion. At that point the chances of Russia collapsing as a state become very likely. Then the world faces monumental challenges and potential consequences. We should definitely avoid those risks, but as you point out, we have some very stupid members of the US Congress, and inept European leaders that are seemingly hell bent on pushing this war to the extremes.

Without further support Ukraine will struggle to push out Russia from their territory, let alone mount an invasion of Russian territory. I just don't see that happening- not least as the US have consistently held a "only for use in Ukraine" line on weapons.

Agreed on the short-sightedness of US and European politicians.

Yeap, the BBC are just reporting now on the increase of Russia's Armed Forces numbers by another 170,000 and Ukraine also seems to think that Russian will push for an even larger mobilisation when Putin wins his March re-election as expected, meaning potentially millions called up (not 100% convinced on those guesses yet) rather than the more piecemeal 300k+ per year they've been recruiting/drafting so far and they're very, very worried by this as it gives both Ukraine and the rest of the world very little time left to try something new.

Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine - Oleksiy Danilov said:
The Kremlin braces itself for a long war. Russia has managed to adapt, and constantly injects funds into its defence sector. Russia proved to be more resilient to the West’s sanctions, as expected. Russia is increasingly putting its economy on a war footing. Total mobilisation may follow the 2024 presidential elections.

17 March 2024 – that means presidential elections in Russia – is a milestone date for the Kremlin. After Putin's another enthronement, the regime will be anchored that basically means giving it a free hand. That is why Ukraine and the global community have 3-4 months to prepare relevantly.

In fact Ukraine is so worried about this new mobilisation, as per bingham67's twitter post, they're rethinking their own mobilisation now as they've burnt through a lot of their younger troops and are mostly left with middle aged folks now, with the "average age" of their forces being 30-40 now, not great! - https://news.yahoo.com/zelensky-acknowledges-greater-war-mobilization-043721380.html

Obviously we are more afraid of a collapsed and defeated Russia than a victorious one.

Baffles me why, no wonder Poland has been blowing its load on its military, its seen the ineptitude of NATO/EU to act decisively in the face of a peer on peer war.

Russian soldiers shot two unarmed Ukrainian POWs that surrendered near Stepove. The Ukrainian soldiers were reportedly left without ammunition and had to surrender, once the second soldier came out, they decided to shoot them both.Never forget what Ukraine is fighting against.

Video out there :(

I’m not really sure what the point of this conversation is. There isn’t a nice way out of this for Ukraine, but they have decided it’s better to fight than be subjugated.

If people find that hard to understand maybe they should invite a few Russians over to **** their wife and abuse their children.
