Nothing about what changed Orban's mind: carrot, stick or common sense. I'm not putting any money on the last one.

It was quite a bruising exchange though with the public threats about ruining their economy, not a good look.

Then again the media in general are not really covering the farmers protest around the EU against diminishing their competitiveness.....aand Ukrainian grain slashing the prices.

I would be intrigued as well, presumably he gets more funding as well.

Surely we are only 10 years away from aircraft carriers being somewhat obsolete?

I imagine we can't be far away from ships that can launch 1000's of AI controlled drones with a mixture of jamming/guns/missiles etc that would be much smaller and more cost effective.

And they could probably be easily disguised as merchant ships.

I know **** all about drones but would presume a move to mainly drones would lead to EMP defenses or something that would cripple unprotected items?

Surely not

What are they playing at? I wonder if we are seeing internal politics playing up here, their navy is desperate to be a part of it and prove themselves, maybe stop funding cut and resources going to the army.

Na not another one hit yet this is just War Monitor comment on the current one.

Russian central bank put out an economic statement, including this piece:

"From official statistics from the Institute of Economics of the Russian Federation, Russian companies are experiencing an acute shortage of labour. This is one of the main reasons for the decline of the economy."

I wonder why there is a labour shortage, mhm....

In other news, Russian oil exports dropped nearly 40% in January as terminals and production facilities shut down due to constant drone attacks

It’s a great look and great news, unless you’re Russian of course ;)

Some of Ukraines drone programs are getting very interesting. A unit has developed a multipurpose bomb to take out forward operating positions or to fully demilitarise disabled armour/vehicles beyond the point of salvage. All for a cost of £10 per mission. Impressive value engineering.
Saw that on Artur Rehi channel, cheap thermite bombs. Dirt cheap and scalable.

You would think by now Russia would declare the Black Sea a no go area given how many ships they've now lost but oh no Russia needs to appear strong and can lose ships but can't lose face under any circumstances.

IIRC, BAE’s new DragonFire laser weapon that can take out drones, among other things, is designed to operate at around the £10 per shot price point. Seems like warfare’s becoming a really high-stakes auction.

Excellent way to hurt the Russian economy even more.

Common sense says Russia should have stopped at Crimea but Vladolf clearly thinks the Russians haven’t suffered enough under his rule.

Yeah, looks a vary nice bit of kit. This drone strategy is cheap as chips on both ends, with very inimal upfront and operational costs.

You're not paying for it either, this is an EU package and Switzerland is not an EU member!

:D

Yes but I'm not the person asking for it.....I actually knew you'd reply with this exactly.....people always happy to spend other peoples money...

I know you find Russians hiding under every comment that you don't like (are they in the room with you right now?) but sometimes it's worth thinking beyond the next comment. Bullying behaviour just stokes the behaviour and attitudes of people on the fringes that tend to throw the baby out with the bathwater.....something exploited by bad state actors.....maybe like.....;)
